I’m glad we’re ending the #JusJoJan month on a more positive note than we began. The prompts earlier on were kind of depressing to me. Fantastic, suggested by Jill at JilyWily is a much easier topic to write about, don’t you think?
Tomorrow night and into Wednesday morning there is going to be a full moon event that hasn’t been seen in many years. NASA is calling it a Super Blue Blood Moon. Super because it is at it’s closest to the earth, blue because it is the second full moon we will have this month and blood because there will also be a full lunar eclipse which makes it have a red appearance. Apparently the last occurrence of this fantastic phenomenon in the Western Hemisphere was in 1866.
You all know that I am a full moon watcher and the thought of this rare happening is very exciting. I’m even going to set my alarm so I can get up early to try and catch the eclipse.

Good luck with your photos! I’ve been doing a lot of research on the correct camera settings and I have my tripod set up (with a remote shutter release for stability). I do fear that there will be some cloud cover, unfortunately… we’ll see (or not 🙂 ).

Yes, I may try some practice shots tonight. I have a tripod but usually just stand in the doorway and rest my arm on the door jam.

Janet,
Good luck photographing the event. I think it’s gonna be best seen in our area tomorrow morning around 6:30 if I remember correctly. I hope to get something but it’s going to be really chilly. I might just peek out the window so I can say I saw it. Well…hopefully, I can. I guess it depends on where it is in the sky.

Yeah, I’m gonna set my alarm for 5 AM but who knows if I’ll actually get up then!

I’m excited about this moon, too. However, they say we’ll only be able to see it pre-dawn– and clouds + snow are predicted for early tomorrow morning. Bummer.

Yes, I saw that too so I’m going to make sure to get my full moon shot tonight as best I can just in case.

I can’t wait to watch the moon tonight, either–we are in the middle of the desert and it’s phenomenal at night. My iPhone camera won’t pick it up well and I need to experiment with the Olympus. Your moon photos are always beautiful. What type of camera do you use? Happy moon watching!

I have a Canon Power shot. The zoom is 30x. I can’t get it with my iPhone well either. I may try using a tripod so I can keep it steady this time, if we can see it. Hopefully it won’t be too cloudy!

Thanks–I’m going to experiment a lot tonight. The moon comes out in the photo on the Olympus, it’s just doesn’t want to focus and show detail. Happy gazing!
