The next prompt in Ali Edward’s 31 Things class is “Morning.”
This is what I see when I get up most mornings. I am generally the first one up. This morning it was cloudy and it had just rained a bit.
Not that I am extremely popular but I do have a few different email accounts and one of the first things I do while I drink my coffee is to go through the emails. Some I open and some I delete without reading. I’m trying to pare down the number of sites I get emails from. I really don’t need them all.
I do like the positive motivational quotes that I get and sometimes I write those down in my planner or jot them on a post it to put in my junk journal.
Every once in a while I get a nice surprise when I wake up. My husband is quite the romantic. For a while when we were younger he was working the graveyard shift and I was working days so we didn’t see each other as “regular” people do. We’d leave notes for each other in various spots. Sometimes I left notes in his car. One day he wrote out the words to the song “You Are My Sunshine” and left it by the coffee machine. Another morning I found these flowers. What a guy!

It’s nice to be able to wake when we want and take our time easing into the day. I’m up about 5 every morning, make my coffee, feed Cricket, do my blood sugar test, then get computer going. It’s still all dark in here except for the monitor, and I play some candy crush for awhile to get going. Then the mr. wakes up about 6:30 and the tv goes on, and we have the local news station on. I’m still playing games, and checking emails. Then he’ll cook us breakfast, while I’m doing my make-up routine. Some days I never get out of jammies, if we’re not going anywhere. Anyway, I enjoyed hearing how your day starts, and everyone’s. π

I play Candy too but usually just on my phone. On the computer I play Freecell to get the cobwebs out. Thanks for sharing your morning!

I’m up around 5:30 a.m. because I get up with my husband, otherwise I’d sleep in until 7:00 a.m. I make us a pot of coffee then I slowly sip the coffee, often while sitting outside on the screened porch, whilst being as quiet as can be. No noise or emails or screens for me until I’ve oozed into the day and that takes at least an hour! Then I hit the blogosphere… followed by whatever else the day holds for me. Once I get going, I’m rolling… but don’t mess with me before then at your own risk. π

If I had your beautiful porch view I might do the same. That seems like such a gentle way to start your day!

Janet,
During the week, I wake up with the curtain of night still pulled. Heck, the chickens aren’t even up! π The quiet of morning is my favorite part of the day even as an empty nester. Street noises eventually find their way even to my muffled hearing as the day starts. I start my coffee brewing as soon as DH leaves. He doesn’t drink it before work because of it’s a directic and he hates that like crazy. He uses Vivarin to keep him running throughout the day and it doesn’t stimulate the bladder like coffee for some reason. But, I don’t worry about such things and will drink a small pot of coffee every morning, sometimes I even make two pots. I wish I could find work to do at home to help contribute to our income. Retail and food service work isn’t my forte. I know I can get a job at one of these places easy peasy but I’m an office type kind of gal. I don’t think anyone will hire me to do that kind of work since I’ve been out of the game for 30 years. I also get way too much email. One account I can delete without a second thought and my blog email accounts takes me a little longer. I want to move subscription from one account to another because I’d like to get rid of it but I’m finding that’s not always an easy thing. I’ll make the change to find out my preferred email isn’t getting the emails. *sigh* Oh well…I will eventually get it straightened out. Well…my cup is just about empty and I think I’ll make that second pot of coffee now. Have a good day!

Hey Cathy, I hear you about retail work. I tried that and after working from home for so long I just couldn’t do it. I love reading everyone’s blog posts. I wish I could figure out a way to get paid for doing that! Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks Shelley. Sometimes I think I’m a morning person but then I stay up until one AM reading so I’m not sure π Happy Wednesday to you too!

I wake up and check my emails/texts. I drink a glass of water and make my tea. I scan The NY Times email, and I read some blogs. Then I go over my schedule and to do list for the day. Walk the dog. Make breakfast. Blog. Gym or more writing….

Making an actual schedule is something I need to work on now that I have less typing to do. I used to have so much work that I had no time for anything else. With less work, I have more time and I could/should be using it more productively!

I envy your ability to navigate morning just pretty as a picture. You sorta tra-la-la through morning with happy. Mine’s a lot of groaning, kvetching, and reluctance, dragging myself around — ugh, stretching is hard. Oh my face, oh my hair, oh these clothes, oh these pets underfoot, good mercy which shoes — let’s go go go! I’m very routinized and timely, but I’m really not okay for about an hour, lol!
On weekends, I rise later, on my own, and I sit in my bed for a good hour, no lie. Then I amble out in a good mood.
We do leave notes, although to be fair, I write mine at night. He makes the coffee 99% of the time.
Weekdays, I do one half-caff, one regular, one decaf and then it’s on to water, soda, tea, seltzer and more water. You drink warm water in the morning and I go to bed with ice cold water.

Ah, Joey, you remind me of the days when my kids were little and I worked a “real” job outside the house. You notice I did not include a picture of myself in my jammies, that would NOT be pretty! I don’t do decaf but I do drink tea at bedtime (that may be a post for later this month, I can’t remember all the prompts). I don’t like plain water at bedtime. I think it tastes funky with bed mouth – if you know what I mean.
