The prompt for today is A Wedding Song.
I can’t really say “our wedding song” because when we got married we did not have a big wedding. There were only 10 people there, including Bill and I. It was a beautiful day and we were married on a Vista Point at Zephyr Cove, Nevada. (Doesn’t that sound romantic?)
After the ceremony we went to Harrah’s and had breakfast and then we all split up to go gambling. No reception or tossing of the bouquet or garter. None of the usual first dance things. If we had had a traditional reception, one of the songs that we have always liked is “With You I’m Born Again” by Billy Preston and Syreeta.
When we celebrated our 25th anniversary we drove to Reno and on the way home we stopped in Zephyr Cove to visit the wedding spot. It had changed a bit, as things do over 25 years.
I guess so have we.
That was 10 years ago. I think about renewing our vows on one of the milestone anniversaries. Maybe in five years for our 40th? If we did that and had a party, perhaps our song would be this one:
Although I’m not sure we could dance to such a fast song, so how about this one:
What was your wedding song? Thanks to Bee for this fun challenge.

You are welcome and thanks for joining in. What a lovely spot to get married! Ours wasn’t big either. We were 13 (my lucky number π) including us and it was on the 31st of October. Great song choices!!!!

Oh how fun to get married at Halloween. I can see that there have been a lot of us who have had small weddings.

Well, my first one was a big one my second was small. Big weddings are over rated in my opinion. π

Ours was “The Broken Road” as the original was written by the group Selah. It had a spiritual meaning as well as told our story. My niece and nephew sang it beautifully. Our wedding was also very small and simple–it was about ‘us’ and the promises we were making to each other and not about providing a party for everyone else. I love weddings like yours–and mine.

That sounds beautiful, Dawn. Our type are certainly less expensive!

Hubby was in Air Force when he asked me to marry him and was being sent to Thailand. As he was from Ct snd I was in GA I had the bright idea that we should elope without anyone there… so we went to SC where there was only a one day waiting period. Itβll be 47 for us this year!

That’s quite an accomplishment. Congrats. We went to Nevada so we didn’t have to do blood tests and all that.

I don’t think we had a wedding song. Maybe we did. I know we had a wedding and it’s something I try to forget. The whole thing was an introvert’s nightmare. π§

I understand. None of my family was there and I am a little sad about that but we were married out on a ledge so not too many people would fit anyway unless they were rock climbers.

I love the photo remake! That’s so romantic! Love the Orleans song. Our wedding song was “The Promise” by Tracy Chapman. I can’t listen to it, I cry. It’s really like, most of our marriage song.

I’ll have to find that song because I don’t recognize it. It was a pretty special day. π
