Linda gives us the prompt of “strain” for this week and I wonder how she knew we were going through a bit of a “strain” in this household? We had to put our kitty down on Tuesday after an unexplained injury (she’s an indoor-outdoor cat) and everyone is missing her presence. The $500+ vet bill is going to put a “strain” on our finances this month too.
This is the second time we’ve had to let go of a cat and it doesn’t get any easier. My husband says no more pets but the kids (adult) are clamoring for a dog. We’ll see.

I’m sorry that you had to say goodbye to another beloved pet. It’s not easy and ouch on the vet bill! Doesn’t the hubs know he’s going to lose the battle when the next kitty or puppy comes along? lol I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day despite the sad circumstances.

We did actually have a good day. We went to the Humane Society and picked out our first family dog! Thanks for your condolences.

I’m so sorry your cat has crossed the rainbow bridge. It’s like losing part of the family. We have a dog. She’s a rescued bullmastiff. I was uncertain at first because of her size, but they (as a breed) are such sweet and gentle dogs, don’t requite a lot of exercise, and aren’t yappers. She’s a constant companion, entertaining, and gives me such a sense of love and peace. Maybe a dog companion to follow you back and forth from your home retreat to your backyard sanctuary is just what’s needed. Again, I’m so sorry for the loss of your cat. 😦

Famous last words for my husband years ago until a neighbor brought home a puppy she couldn’t keep. He was the best dog we ever had!
