August Break – 2019 – Day 21 Right Now

August Break has a little over a week left.  I have an idea for September but I need to work on it a bit more.  Today’s prompt is “Right Now.”

I was walking the mall today while I was waiting for Benny to be done at the groomers.  This is the same mall that had the shooting in July.  I saw this train down one of the side aisles.

The mall was empty but I think it’s more because all the kids are back in school than because people are afraid.  The shooting was at the other end of the mall and since it was a personal fight not a random act it is a little less scary.
I wonder how much this train will get used when it gets closer to Christmas?  There was nothing like this when my kids were little but I certainly would have let them ride if there had been.  I did notice a few more empty storefronts though.  Thank goodness they still have Barnes and Noble and Target here!  The smell from Mrs. Fields’ was delightful and I had to walk past it fast!
Does your mall have a train in it?  Had any Mrs. Fields’ lately?

I took four girls shopping for Homecoming Dance apparel yesterday. It took a long, long time. At one point I told them I was having pretzels and lemonade. Then about an hour later, I told them I was riding the kiddie train 🙂 Finally I had to tell them the mall closes at 6.

  2. Glad you weren’t shopping during the shooting. Good grief. I think malls in general are falling off. Why go there when you can do so much online shopping? Well, there is the walking…

  3. It’s sad how a lot of the malls are closing. Before we left Jacksonville, FL, to travel, most of the inside malls were losing business to the sprawling ‘town centers’ with outdoor store fronts with brand name/designer stores. Our biggest did have a train for the kids as well as a big play pit in the middle with playground activities. Sadly, I think those days are close to being over. 😦

  4. How scary and calming all at once! The train sounds really fun. I hardly go to malls anymore (I live in the city where there really aren’t any)… but I do like to stop by when I go back home.

I haven’t seen a Mrs. Field’s store in years. They’re still around, huh? No train at the mall closest to us, either. I live such a deprived life!

  6. I haven’t been to the mall in a couple years, but last time I was there, I didn’t see a train. It’s cute, though.

I don’t go to our mall very often, but it does have a train, and I’ve rode on it with my grand-daughter. It’s fun to go all over. It’s actually roomy enough for adults, and many do ride it. 🙂
