Jim has given us North/South/East/West for our musical prompts today.
I’m going with Sade, “Smooth Operator.” We saw her once and while the show itself was terrific, we were disappointed in the fact that because she started so late we couldn’t stay to see the encore or we would miss our train home.
He move in space with minimum waste and maximum joy
City lights and business nights
When you require streetcar desire for higher heights
When sentiment is left to chance
No place to be ending but somewhere to start
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator
Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale
We shadow box and double cross
Yet need the chase
Melts all your memories and change into gold
His eyes are like angels but his heart is cold
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator
And the video:
I also want to take a moment to share the latest Sketchbook I made which is now in the Brooklyn Art Library. It has traveled 2800 miles as it went on a cross country road trip! It has 280 online views. I was not sharing it because when they first scanned it, they left out a couple of the pages. It is now complete. It is called “Let the Adventure Begin” and the theme is City Streets. I think it covers the North, South, East and West prompt.

I love the smoky sultriness of her voice. Smooth singing about a smooth operator!

Love, love, love this choice, Janet.
I always seem to find a connection with some of the classic songs, and this one was a favorite of my firstborn…who’s now 35! Hearing this one as a toddler would make him SMILE…then sleep! LOL! Thanks for the share. š
