It’s Actually August

Today is Sunday and that means it’s time for Song Lyric Sunday as hosted by Jim Adams, who gives us the prompt of Clear/Dark/Light.

As much as the times are in a state of constant upheaval right now, it is only logical that we’d have some unusual weather as well.  The last few days have been extremely warm here in my part of California and the temperatures have been close to if not hitting 100 degrees.  Friday night at 8:20 PM it was 79 degrees!  That’s usually a midday high.

The sunset as seen from my front porch.  Aren’t the colors gorgeous?

This morning we woke up to thunder and lightening.  It went on for about 2 hours.

Followed by this sunrise out our back porch:

Almost looks like the sunset doesn’t it?  So glad I got  up to see this spectacle of nature.

So my song for #SLS today is “Dance Into The Light” by Phil Collins.

Dance Into the Light

It’s there in the eyes of the children
In the faces smiling in the windows
You can come on out, come on open the doors
Brush away the tears of freedom
Now we’re here, there’s no turning back
We have each other
We have one voice
Hand in hand we will lay the tracks
Because the train is coming to carry you home
Come dance with me
Come on and dance into the light
Everybody dance into the light
There’ll be no more hiding in shadows of fear
There’ll be no more chains to hold you
The future is yours – you hold the key
And there are no walls with freedom
Now we’re here, we won’t go back
We are one world
We have one voice
Side by side we are not afraid
Because the train is coming to carry you home
Come dance with me
Come on and dance into the light
Everybody dance into the light
Do you see the sun, it’s a brand new day
Oh, the world’s in your hands, now use it
What’s past is past, don’t turn around
Brush away the cobwebs of freedom
Now we’re here, there’s no turning back
You have each other
You have one voice
Hand in hand you can lay the tracks
Because the train is coming to carry you home
Come dance with me
Come on and dance into the light
Everybody dance into the light

It’s been too hot here, too. It takes all the spunk out of me. Your photos of your sunset are amazing. The colors are like none that we see here.

  3. Hi, Janet – Your photos here are absolutely stunning. They fit in perfectly with your song choice.
Now I feel a bit guilty about complaining about our current temperatures. This past week we have reached highs of 29C/84F which has had me melting! I’m a weakling, I know!

My husband is having a particularly hard time with the heat. It usually doesn’t bother me but even I took a break and just laid on the bed under the fan and read a book for a while.

I love Phil! He is such a talented musician. And, it is very hot here. Today’s temperature was 104F. Can’t get out of the house.

Phil is great. We got to see him when he came by a couple years ago. Wonderful show even though he wasn’t able to move around the stage like he used to. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Great choice Janet, especially since I am writing about another Phil Collins song Against All Odds for the other music challenge that I host every other Friday.
