Decidedly December – 2020

Wow, 4 days behind. I was working, which is a good thing, and I have some more work for next week which is also good. Let’s see what magic I can make with these prompts.

December 9 is Silver and Jingle. That’s easy! A bunch of silver bells from my craft stash in assorted sizes, just waiting to be added to some fun project.

December 10 is Jolly and Warm Fuzzies.

Saw these jolly guys sitting on the shelf at Safeway
This little guy in his warm Christmas sweater gives me the warm fuzzies.

December 11 is tree and ink. We got our tree up reasonably early this year and I am grateful for that because this weekend we are having some rain so it probably wouldn’t have gotten done. Our daughters and I went and picked it out and then put the lights on. A couple of days later, our youngest and I watched a cheesy Xmas Hallmark movie and decorated it. Fun!

Here is our tree this year

As far as the ink goes, usually I would talk about the ink I use in my crafting but this kind of ink is a bit more special. I’m not a fan of tattoos but our daughter asked me to write out La Vita e Bella for her so that she could have the tattoo made in my handwriting. Had I known she was going to get it done EXACTLY as I wrote it, I probably would have written smaller – LOL. This covers her whole forearm and the black birds represent the five of us in the family. The one outline bird is for our first real pet, a cat named Whisper, who had to be put to sleep. How could I object to something with that much meaning?

Life is Beautiful

Today is Lights and Best Decision in 2020. Again, lights is easy:

The lights in front of our house.

I’m going to have to think about the best decision of 2020. Perhaps it is getting a new refrigerator. Perhaps it is deciding to make my own website. Perhaps I haven’t made it yet! I still have some time to work on it.

Okay, there we have both the Countdown to Christmas and the December Reflections up to date. How are you doing? Got your tree and lights up? Warm fuzzies happening? Made a spectacular decision this year? Lemme know!

  3. Hi, Janet – I LOVE your ‘Decidedly December’ reflections. I especially like the question ‘What was your best decision of 2020,’ I will definitely be borrowing that!

Hi Donna! Feel free to take whatever prompts you like! I love reading other people’s answers. I have gotten way too far behind now but I do plan a few more posts before the new year! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I love a good tattoo with meaning. My kids are not the meaningful tattoo type and they be all, “Do you love it??!” and I just be all, “I’m happy you’re happy.” Anyway, your daughter’s is lovely, and if I ever decide to get a writing tattoo, I think I’ll ask my mother to write it, cause then she would always be with me and I miss her, especially now, during this stupid plague and the yuletide….
    That’s one cuuuuuute doggy!
Your tree is pretty. I noticed your absolutely perfect spacing of garland and I am impressed.

Thanks so much, Joey! I was like that with our older daughter’s tattoos. She has a knife (like the eating utensil kind) on her wrist that matches a fork on her friend’s wrist. I’m like, “Couldn’t you have been the fork?” The tree decorating was definitely team work with our youngest. Miss you and hope that you guys are doing well.

  8. Wow, you’ve been busy – great job with the prompts! Your tree looks so nice and that little sweater is adorable. My little dog won’t let me put anything on him. That’s sad because he could use a coat, it’s mighty cold here in WI! The picture with your son is so sweet, I’m glad he’s okay. And YAY for skinny jeans! 🙂

We do have our tree up. It is probably the earliest we have gotten our tree up in years. Usually, we go our 3 or 4 days before Christmas and wind up with a Charlie Brown tree. This year, I started nagging my hubby extra early to go get a tree and decorate it. The doggie in the Christmas sweater DOES give me the warm fuzzies. I think my warmest fuzzies are coming from photos of my grandkids and talking to them about how excited they are for Christmas this year. Some things never change! Oh, and…I love the symbolism in your daughter’s tattoo!

One year when my husband was away visiting his mom in Oregon over Christmas and I was in the house alone, I got a Charlie Brown tree. Literally a small artificial tree on deep discount at Michaels because it had a broken limb. It came with the lights on it already and everything. It perfectly fit with what was happening in our lives at that time and I still have it but the kids won’t let me use it – LOL. If I had the space I might put it up in the studio.

Love all these images! Just finished shopping for one side of the family today, still more to go for the other side though. Tree up, wreath on the door, can’t do lights since I’m in an apartment. Christmas is gonna be here before we know it!

So true! Now I need to concentrate on buying and wrapping the presents. Then I can really relax. Thankfully I only have 4 people to buy for and they all gave me links to what they want – LOL

This is the first year EVER that my shopping is done, wrapped and shipped, tree is up, lights are outside, and baking done. Perhaps because these days my “to do” list is minimal. Can’t go anywhere, can’t see anyone, but regardless, it’s a good feeling. Happy Holidays, my friend!!

Lucky you! I have some shopping left and then of course wrapping. Cooking and baking are not in the mix other than Christmas Day dinner, although Rachel has mentioned making homemade ravioli. I am feeling relaxed though so, yeah, that’s a good thing. Cheers to you and your family!
