N is for Netflix, National Park, Nightclub

Watching Netflix could definitely be a date. It’s the movies, right? We have watched a lot of good ones, including some that are older that we either didn’t see when they were in the theaters or saw so long ago that we forgot them (which happens when you get of a certain age). Occasionally we will binge watch a TV series. I would suggest, however, that if you do decide to binge watch a series, you should keep your eye on the Netflix guide that tells you when the series is going to be taken off. We learned that the hard way when we started to watch a show called Person of Interest. We were on the last season, almost to the last episode and they took the show off! Do you know how frustrating that is? I just may have to buy the DVDs so we can see the ending.

Going to a nightclub is a different experience than the theater or a concert. It makes me think of the old “speakeasy” although alcohol is certainly not illegal. In fact a lot of clubs have a drink minimum. Some nightclubs have dancing, although if you remember my hubby doesn’t dance much so the ones we’ve seen have been of the comedy variety. Rosanne Barr (before her most recent inappropriate behavior) and Ben Bailey from the Cash Cab were pretty good.

Visiting a national park could be another fun date. We have nine of them in California, more than any other state. I don’t have pictures of our own experiences there, yet. I recently found out that my hubby has never been to Yosemite and I haven’t been since I was a young girl so I think that goes on the list of places we need to go. It is about a 3 hour drive so probably would be more than a day trip but we could manage, probably NOT before the letter “Y” though, just in case you were wondering.

Okay. Time to take a break and try to visit as many other folks on the list as I can for the rest of today and tomorrow. Have a wonderful Easter if you celebrate. Since the kids are grown it is just another Sunday here.

We haven’t joined any subscription services, but we’ve been able to download various series. This means we’ve become used to binge watching as an experience, so it’s been interesting watching a show on UK terrestrial TV which was limited to the release of each episode, week-by-week, built into the contract. We are loving it, and wait keenly for the following week. It’s really old school, and we rather enjoy the delayed gratification 🙂

  3. We enjoy watching movies and series on Netflix too. We both enjoyed Don’t Look Up but haven’t seen The Adam Project. We’ve been watching some Korean shows and, despite having to read captions, we really enjoy them.

I love that having these different options you show very well that it’s not about the “what” but more about “with whom”. It doesn’t have to be fancy, expensive or rare – it just has to be done with the right heart!

Netflix is a good date idea when we can decide on something we both want to watch. Also, I’ve never been to Yosemite either.

  7. Netflix for us is… well it’s lost its luster. Going to a movie or even renting a video was like an event.. Netflix is.. well sad. I mean don’t get me wrong I LOVE movies, love them… but Netflix makes it seem common.

  8. We went to the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal a while back. It was a great trip and we spent lots of time in nightclubs during that trip watching various comedy shows. It’s so fun to have so many of them all happening at the same time. Weekends In Maine

  10. Oh my we have so many dates with Netflix! So bad of Netflix take series off you’re watching.., couldn’t they send you a reminder! I never finished The West Wing because of that… hoping they bring back as I’m not paying for it.

I think we will stick to Netflix for now. We are definitely past nightclub life, and never were much for national parks…
