The prompt for today’s JusJoJan24 is “writing,” something I haven’t been doing very much here! Thanks to Joanne for suggesting it. Side note, JoAnne is my sister’s name.
Back to writing, this is the first post for me this year. Half a month gone already! It is amazing.
To update, we had a fun New Year’s Eve. We went to our friend’s house for a small gathering. It was supposed to be a “geriatric” party and we were going to watch the ball drop at 9 PM so that we could all go home before it got too late. Most of the party did leave (even though our host had the TV on the wrong channel and we didn’t actually get to see the ball drop at 9 New York time – LOL). However, a few of us stayed until midnight and watched the ball drop “for real.” We haven’t been out on New Year’s Eve for many years and it was nice.
I did also make my annual Vision Cards, writing on the back of each my goals for the year. It is my “resolution” system. I figure if I get one thing accomplished in each category during the year I’ve fulfilled my goals. Much less stress this way. Here are this year’s cards:

I have been using the same 6 categories for several years now. It seems to work best for me to cover the areas of my life I most want to work on. We’ll do a check in around June to see if I’ve actually been able to accomplish anything. LOL.
Coming up I have another pop-up craft show next weekend. This time I have Valentine’s Day items…

…and I’ve also been working on a new set of cards. These are hidden reveal cards where you pull the tab up and a message appears:

Here is what it looks like:
They are already up in my Etsy shop in case you are looking for something unique.
And last but not least, we have our first concert coming up, Bryan Adams. We have not seen him in person before so it should be fun. Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics is the opening act. Haven’t seen him yet either.
So that was a little bit of writing plus some pictures. What have you been up to so far this year?β

Hi Janet, lovely to see you. I do like the way you create smaller individual boards and thank you for sharing how you write on the reverse of each one – I like that idea.
My start to the year included cataract surgery which has given me increased brightness and colour in my right eye (left to follow in a few weeks), so I feel relatively bright of mood, although plumbing issues including lack of hot water for a few days, and a mouse (presumably hiding away from the colder temps) is doing its best to bring me down.

Sorry, this got stuck in my trash! Glad the eye surgery went well. Hate plumbing issues. Hate any kind of household issues!

Hi, Janet!
Happy new year, dear friend! I am using the email method to comment on your post and I hope it works. How have you been, dear friend? How’s my buddy Benny? I am set to return to active blogging duty this Thursday when I will present my first post of 2024. I didn’t want to miss commenting on your January post.
On New Year’s Eve, Mrs. Shady and I hit the hay before the ball dropped. Watching the spectacle live used to be a big deal for us, but not anymore. One thing I was very thankful for was the lack of noise on NYE and the nights on either side of it. Down in Florida, we needed to endure practically an entire week of fireworks, firecrackers and celebratory gunfire whenever a holiday of any kind rolled around. It was unnerving. Here in our new neighborhood up north, we enjoyed nothing but peace and quiet, same as we have every other night since we arrived last August.
Your trademark vision cards are lovely and empowering. I wish you success as you navigate the year and strive to accomplish at least one goal in each category. Your Valentines are eye-catching and I hope you sell a bunch of them. The hidden message reveal cards are a unique twist and should be popular with shoppers as well.
I have seen recent videos of Bryan Adams performing. Looks and sounds like he is still going strong. It should be a great concert. Let us know.
We’ve got two inches of snow on the ground and temps dipping into the mid teens a few nights this week. I am absolutely loving the cold weather, such a refreshing change from hot and steamy Florida.
If possible, come see me at Shady’s Place this Thursday, Friday or Saturday while I am on active blogging status. Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Janet!

Hello my friend Thomas! I rescued your note from the trash. Sadly it takes WP a long time to realize who are friends and who are not. I understand about the loud noises around New Years and I didn’t actually hear that much this year. My MIL said they went on for hours but I think she may be exaggerating. She tends to hear things that others don’t LOL. I have been checking your site for new posts and will head there today to catch it on day one! I was able to get a ticket exchange and got closer seats for the Bryan Adams show so I am really looking forward to it. Thanks as always for taking the time to share your thoughts on my creative endeavors. I appreciate you!

Your cards are lovely and so cheerful. I’m always happy to see a post from you. As for your question: What have you been up to so far this year?β
Grumbling. About weather. About how insincere people are. About too much stuff everywhere. That is pretty much the bottom line of my attitude so far. YOU ASKED! π

Thanks Ally! I had to rescue your comment from the trash. Guess that’s what happens when I don’t write very often. I get your grumbling too. I’m afraid we’re in for some rocky times this year!
