Welcome to the letter G in the A to Z Challenge for 2018. This year I am A to Z-ing through Michaels Arts and Crafts store. G is the letter of the day.
Gotta be for glitter, glitter, glitter!
Glitter is such a big deal it gets its own banner! Glitter can be found in a couple of areas in Michaels. First pictured is the General Crafts area. Here you can find tons of different colors and types of glitter, from big chunks to fine crystals.

The next area that has a selection of glitter is the scrapbooking section (my personal favorite).
So many cool collections and colors!
Aren’t the colors so vibrant? There is chunky glitter, fine glitter, regular glitter and microbead types and even some designer glitter. Bet you didn’t know there was a glitter designer – LOL. Recollections is the “house brand.”

They are packaged similarly but you can tell from the prices that the glitter in the scrapbooking section is significantly higher priced. Maybe that’s the reason I never wanted to let my kids play with my scrapbooking supplies!
Another two-for today. The other big G of Michaels is glue (gotta have something to stick that glitter down with, right?) One whole aisle devoted to glues and adhesives of all types.
Even Gorilla Glue (although that’s not really necessary to hold glitter in place).
The scrapbook area has its glue too since you need acid free glue to protect your memories. These are tape runners and glue dots.

Gee there’s a lot of glitter and glue!

I used regular Elmer’s. Very messy. Glitter glue makes it less messy these days.

I’ve never really known how to use glitter well. I don’t like too much of it but I do like it’s done tastefully – apparently that’s a skill I was not given! 🙂

We used to use a lot of glitter here when my girls were young. I’m pretty sure my son got in on the action, too. It was a lot of fun but oh the mess it caused if it got dropped on the carpet and that often happened here. I like using glitter on my hand stamped cards at Christmas. It adds a nice touch. Now you put me in a glittering mood. 🙂

Glitter is definitely something I’ve used a lot. Three daughters, glitter is a constant. My preference is glitter glue.

We must share a brain. I was out shopping this morning and I bought some glitter glue and then I came home and read your post. I love, love, love everything glitter. Great job, Mz. Janet. I really think I should go check out Michael’s Glitter 😉

There are certain kinds of glitter glue that are better than others I’ve found. Of course it is the expensive one that is the best!

Glitter is delightfully fun and messy stuff to play with! I had no idea there were so many options of kind and color, all kinds of possibilities! 🙂 I love the glue strip tape, use it often for simple projects, so easy and no mess!

Yes, I use tape runners all the time in my projects. I don’t use glitter as often as I could but I’m thinking of adding it to more things.

These wonderful update for an altered book crafter who has put my ‘glitter’ away and miss the mess of crafty and the joy of the results. When the #Challenge is over, and I finish the final edit of a third novel, A Garden of Sweet Disorder, I am promising myself to get myself glue and scissors back out and have at it. Thank you for these fun posts that show me so many new products.

I had a feeling you cover glitter, Janet! 🙂 Although it can be pretty, it can also make a big mess. This past Christmas, it seemed glitter from cards left their mark all over the house and my face, too!

I was never much into glitter. Couldn’t think of what to use it for. But, glue, now I love all the glues, and have bought it by the gallon before. 🙂

Wow! I never realized that there were so many types of glue. Put me in the not fond of glitter column, but only because of the clean up.

You are bringing such great memories back for me.Glitter–started out on school projects (as Room Mom) and ended up in my daughter’s hair to decorate her. From Michael’s of course. Good memories.

Well, I left a comment and the system ate it, I guess. In a nutshell what I was saying was that many people hate glitter and are quite vocal about it. Especially at Christmastime.

I’ll check my pending comments section to see if it got held up there. Yes, glitter can be a trigger. You should see the counters after someone comes up with something glittery (which is usually everything at Christmas!).

Glitter is a controversial topic. I’m proud of you for taking it on. Many, many, many people who I know are ANTI-glitter, expressing concern about it… even if it’s only a flake or two that has fallen off a Christmas card that a well-meaning friend has sent them. 🙄
