I’m going to start this one out by saying that I am bilingual – meaning I am creating my posts on Blogger but they are “simulcast” on Word Press thanks to the IFTTT applet which John Holton, one of the A to Z team leaders taught me about. John’s a wealth of technical info! Of course I don’t expect people to leave a comment on both platforms, just trying to reach as many people as I can.
And now we move on to the letter “B.” Backpack. I never gave my kids cards to start the school year off but I did try to take a 1st Day of School picture each year for their scrapbooks. I’ll bet they would have rather gotten a card with some money in it.
I think this one turned out kind of cute with the little handle and buckles. The big pencil brad jumps right out at you too.

Another big brad on the inside but there is still room to write a message if you want. During back to school night I used to leave messages in the kid’s desks encouraging them for the year ahead. A card like this would have been nice to put in there. I’m sure they would have been the envy of all their friends!
The envelope has pencils down one side.
Maybe the grandparents who got the card from yesterday’s post would send a card like this to their deserving grandchildren on the first day of school. Maybe it would have a gift card in it to Office Depot or to Barnes and Noble. Just in case you’d like to do that, you can find this card in my Etsy shop as well!
That’s B for you. Make sure to visit some of the other A to Z’ers and come back tomorrow for the letter “C”.

So cute!
I usually took first day of school photos, too. Never thought about a card for that, but fun idea! š

Yeah, I always think of the cute stuff too late for my own kids too, as they tell me all the time.

Oh those school days are 8 years in the rearview mirror from son #4. I remember them well. I use to have a special lunch on the last day before school started. Great memories. For the longest time I had 1 in Highschool, 1 in middle school, 1 in elementary and yes 1 in preschool and this went on for years but then we added 2 in college and yadayadayada…I was happy when it was over. Life just was slower and that is good…<3 Love the pics. Very cute ā¤

Yes, my kids school days are over too. At one time it took me an hour to get the three kids to school!

I don’t remember how long it took me but I remember I started the “Bus” that’s what I use to call it. I left at 2pm, I’ll admit I’d bake some time in it for my Starbuck’s stop. Always the same, a piece of lemon cake and a vanilla latte <3. Can't do that anymore too many lbs. It was the older kids first because they got out at 2:30pm, then I'd have to get home to meet Matthew at the bus stop and then I'd send one of the older ones to get Connie (Connnor). Then the other things started. Getting one to a job, getting the boys to dance, picking up the husband. I hated being in that car !!! Just remembering, ptsdriving disorder š Thanks for stopping by Mz. Janet. Good luck with your AtoZChallenge ā¤

Those cards are adorable! My two kiddos would’ve adored receiving them in their backpacks. Nice idea – and way to post on both platforms at one time!! John does rock, he’s the best!

Yes, wish I had thought of it when my kids were going to school but then I didn’t have time to think about stuff like that because…the kids!

I hear ya – but it wasn’t for a lack of trying or wishing, right?!

Thanks for the shoutout! It should be noted that I’m no longer simulcasting: the amount of work compared to how many extra readers I was getting made the whole thing not worth it.
Very nice card! is there a money pocket?

I remember you said that, John and eventually I may give up Blogger too but during the A to Z I am keeping it. I already got 2 more subscribers which makes a whopping 20! LOL Not really. The place where the pencil brad on the front is might be used as one but I think I’d have to make the slit bigger.

That is so cute and brilliantly done! My kids were mostly homeschooled, but we took first day photos, and along with a hundred (at least) others they made end of the year scrapbooks.
That paper you used is exactly like some backpack fabric!

Thanks Lisa. It is fun to try and make something out of the ordinary. The year end scrapbooks sound marvelous!

Thanks! The “buckles” are actually just paper but they add the right touch.
