Juicy July – 2019 – Song Lyric Sunday – Misty

Today’s prompt from Jim is Songs that were in movies.  On an earlier prompt I used the song “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” from the movie “Play Misty For Me.”  Today I’m using “Misty”.  I love the way Johnny Mathis sings this song.

The lyrics:

Misty
Johnny Mathis, Glenn Osser & His Orchestra
Look at me
I’m as helpless as a kitten up a tree
And I feel like I’m clinging to a cloud
I can’t understand
I get misty, holding your hand
Walk my way
And a thousand violins begin to play
Or it might be the sound of your hello
That music I hear
I get misty the moment you’re near
You can say that you’re leading me on
But it’s just what I want you to do
Don’t you realize how hopelessly I’m lost
That’s why I’m following you
On my own
Would I wander through this wonderland alone
Never knowing my right foot from my left
My hat from my glove
I get misty, and too much in love
I’m too misty, and too much in love

That’s a beautiful song. Erroll Garner wrote it as an instrumental and the lyrics were added later. My favorite version, believe it or not, is Ray Stevens’s: he does it as a country song and it works really well.

I thought Misty was in the Play Misty for Me movie. I remember the other song as a song on the radio.

Oh yes it is. His voice just makes me melt. It’s like velvet, great choice !!! I remember the movie too. It was so scary, creepy scary. I saw it at the drive in. Jessica Walters/Clint Eastwood really made a very good suspenseful movie. Love it ❤ Have a great week Mz. Janet ❤ The song made it even creepier b/c it was so mellow and then BAM 😉
