It’s time for Stream of Consciousness Saturday and Linda’s prompt is Wrap/Rap. You know it is almost Christmas again (don’t yell at me, I have no control over the passage of time) and there are a lot of people who give gift cards as presents because it is easy. Truthfully sometimes a gift card is more welcome than a set of knitted socks would be.
I think that it is appropriate to give gift cards, but a lot of times you wonder how to wrap them. I mean, everyone knows what a gift card looks like and while you could put it in an envelope with a card, why not make it a little more interesting?
Here’s a short video I did showing how I make these cute Slider Cards. I think it elevates the gift card to a different level, don’t you? Plus, you get to see my smiling face 🙂
I am slowly adding stock to the Etsy site and have just listed a couple of the Christmas ones. There will be more for other occasions coming soon so check back. If you have a special request, send me a message on Etsy and I’ll see what I can do!
Gift card giving doesn’t have to have such a bad rap with something like this!
Your questions for today:
What do you think of “Janet in the Studio?” I was thinking of starting all my videos like that.
Pick One: Gift cards or knitted socks? Happy Saturday all!

I was unclear about gift cards as a gift idea and your post made me investigate. I learned about pros and cons and some are better than others. I like your idea to improve the experience of giving and receiving them.
It is worth it to be sure the gift card or any gift given is desirable for the recipient.

It definitely makes it look like you took a little time when thinking about a gift rather than just putting the card in an envelope. Hopefully others will think the same and buy my holders! Thanks for stopping by.

I do like your video – a neat idea and you make it look easy to put together one of these slider cards. 🙂

I love the video, Janet! You did a WONDERFUL job! There are so many possibilities with these. A friend of mine bought a few of my cards to sell in his gift shop. I was surprised—while I did a good job on them, they look nowhere as professional and creative as yours. I’m so glad you are doing these informative and instructional videos. I will definitely bookmark your links. I love “Janet in the Studio!”

Your videos are great – you teach the lessons so well. And those gift card holders are adorable! I’d prefer a gift card if it’s put in something cute like your cards!

Thanks Jill. Knitted socks are actually very nice in cold winter weather. I wear them to bed. Can’t sleep with cold feet.

Yeah, I wondered if you could make your own slider cards without starting with one of the premade ones. I see you’ve figured it out. Good video!

Thanks John. I got those premade ones on sale but I have SO MUCH paper that making them myself is very appealing.
