Today for the Rocktober Music Fest I’m going with Cher. At 73 years old she is still going strong. We saw her in 2014 and I thought it was a great show. She looks terrific and has so much energy. Of course, I don’t know what she’s like when she’s off the stage and maybe she shows her age then but clearly there is no hiding things with the costumes she wears!

She even joked about still being able to get into the outfit she wore in “If I Could Turn Back Time”:
The reason I picked Cher and this particular song today is because I had my annual GYN exam yesterday and the first thing the doctor said to me was “This is the last time you need to have a pap smear.” What? Apparently after you hit 65 (coming in March for me) you don’t need to have this exam anymore! Who knew?
So, while there may be times I think about what it would be like to “turn back time” and be “young” again, there are definite benefits to getting older! Also, good news, my blood pressure was normal the first time (I have “white coat syndrome” and usually they have to take my blood pressure twice) AND their records show I have lost 20 pounds since my visit in June (it is actually 60 since my all time high weight). Maybe I am turning back time a bit!
Happy Wednesday everyone.

Congratulations on your excellent health status, Janet! You’re giving Cher a run for her money. ๐ She’s always been one of my favourite singers (that voice!), and I love her forthright personality. The last time we saw her live was the mid-’80s (went about 4 times – twice with Sonny in the 70s). She’s such a great entertainer! Thanks for sharing your concert photos. She does look amazing. ๐

Thanks Debbie. I was amazed at her costume changes and energy. She did a tribute to Sonny that was so touching.

I think Cher has always been and still is beautiful. Great news on the doctor’s appointment. You just may be turning back time. Wish I could–but I would definitely want to do it knowing all the lessons I’ve learned at this point in my life! ๐

It sounds like you are turning back time, Janet. I agree that this is a very fitting song choice. Congratulations!

I’m so happy when I can find things that tie together. It’s not always easy.

Sound like a great physical, Janet. Nice! I have the white coat syndrome, too.

It took me a while to convince the doctor that it was really a thing with me. I used to bring my donors card from when I donated blood because the blood pressures were always well within normal range.

Mary said the same thing about her Pap smear, that they told her she didn’t need one after 65, so her next (in 3 years) will be her last.

Totally took me by surprise. I didn’t know what to say to the doctor as I left…”Nice knowing you?”

Around here that whole “you must have a yearly pap smear” deal is history for all women now. The docs + insurance companies don’t seem to care about the results, so they don’t do them. Makes you wonder about all those years when we dutifully had one, doesn’t it? ๐คจ

Interesting. I know at some point it was like every two years but to say flat out not again? Guess they figure it doesn’t get used as much anymore? She did say to keep having mammograms every one to two years (my choice).

The doctors are trying to wipe out the female gender. I was told every 5 years.
