We lost Kenny Rogers this week. He was 81 and had had some health issues for a while so it wasn’t truly a surprise, but it is still sad. He made some beautiful music.
Another artist who made some beautiful music was John Denver. Tragically he passed away in 1997 when the plane he was flying crashed just down the highway from us near Monterey Bay. Here is Poems, Prayers and Promises.
About my life’s time
All the things I’ve done
And how it’s been
And I can’t help believing
In my own mind
I know I’m gonna hate to see it end
Slept out in the rain
Spent a night or two all on my own
I’ve known my lady’s pleasures
Had myself some friends
And spent a time or two in my own home
It’s been a good life all in all
It’s really fine
To have a chance to hang around
And lie there by the fire
And watch the evening tire
While all my friends and my old lady
Sit and pass the pipe around
And things that we believe in
How sweet it is to love someone
How right it is to care
How long it’s been since yesterday
And what about tomorrow
And what about our dreams
And all the memories we share
“How long it’s been since yesterday and what about tomorrow?” Here’s to the promise that we will have some more evenings to sit around the fire with friends. Stay healthy.
From Jim’s prompt of promise/vow/oath.

I agree, Janet, how Kenny Rogers made beautiful music. I think I know every single John Denver song by heart. A very appropriate and poignant song, Janet. My eyes are blurry. Thank you for sharing and stay healthy.

Terrible that he crashed not far from you 😦 A great loss to the world. Beautiful selection for the prompt.

Right? He seemed like such a laid back guy too.

I know. It’s too bad he died as early as he did. My hubby is laid back like that.

The gambler was one of my favorite songs. So relevant to everyday life.

I agree with you – Kenny and John both shared beautiful songs with us during their lifetimes. I hope you and your family are staying safe and that you’re getting plenty of creative time in your studio!
