A to Z Challenge – 2020 – Miller

As I thought, I’ve hit a snag.  The good news is I have transcription work to do which means income.  The bad news is I have transcription work to do which means less playtime.  Fortunately I had drafted all the letters of the alphabet and some even have scrapbook pages that were done in the past so I will be able to share something for every day, it may not be the completed layouts.  I’m okay with that.

For the letter “M” I’m using Steve Miller, who was another one of those happy surprises.  We’ve seen him twice now and both times even though he wasn’t the headliner, his performance was better than theirs (note:  It was Journey both times, not with Steve Perry though).

The first time we saw Steve Miller he was the middle act between Tower of Power and Journey.  I was only going to scrapbook the pictures from his set but since I’m getting behind anyway, I may just wait until I have time to do the whole show.  In any case, I chose this set of papers called Songbird from Paper Wishes.  I know I will have to add some papers from my other stash because there won’t be enough to do it all but I’m pretty sure I can find some that will coordinate.

We had friends with us again this time and…it was at Shoreline Amphitheater.  See, I told you we went to other venues!  I liked this to use as the title page.

I picked the Water Lily Stencil for this group of pictures.

I added an outline around the circle with some Nuvo pearl.

I still have to do something else to it though because I’m not sure I like it like this.
Neal Schon came out and did a song with Steve Miller.  I’ll probably put the set list on this page because there are fewer pictures.

On this one I’ll probably use another stencil to fit them all in.  I like this paper because there are birds flying all around, even though they are not eagles.  Get it?  “Fly Like an Eagle?”

Once I actually get the scrapbook pages done I’ll post an update because I’m sure you all want to see how they come out!  Hope everything is going well for you all in this crazy Covid time.  Stay safe out there.  Take a peek at some of the other A to Zers if you get a chance.  Don’t hate me because I can’t keep up completely!

I’ve not seen Steve Miller in concert, but I’ve been past his mansion in Central Idaho. I know he was scheduled to be headlining a 50 yr anniversary event in Sun Valley, Idaho this year, but with all of the recent events, I’m not sure that’s going to take place. Sorry to be slow to visit. It’s been a busy week for me.

It really was. The first time we saw him it was a show with Tower of Power, Steve Miller and Journey. The next time it was Doobie Brothers, Steve Miller, Santana and Journey!

  6. Janet, this is interesting as a work-in-progress. I have been mostly to classical concerts, which are completely different. I haven’t heard of any of your musicians, but i’m still enjoying your posts.

Thanks, Sue. I have never been much for classical but I can imagine it is a lot more, shall I say refined? I can’t imagine people up in their seats dancing, but maybe they do? Glad you are enjoying the posts. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. If these times have taught us all something, it’s how to adapt. So shifting things and the amount of time you have free to play in the challenge are not things to worry about.

Thanks Deborah. I feel even more guilty because I am not able to visit as many people and leave comments. But, I’ll circle around when I have more time.

  10. Sometimes I like to take a break when scrapping pages anyway and then come back to it with fresh eyes. Good luck with the transcription work. Weekends In Maine

The nice thing about blog challenges is that you can adapt them to your life! Now I’ll be singing Fly Like an Eagle for the rest of the day. Thanks, I think.

I learned from past A to Zs that being prepared with the letters in draft form is very helpful for me. I knew that my task was going to be a difficult one so if I had pages that I had scrapbooked before I put them in right away that way if I couldn’t get to the current stuff, at least I’d have something.

  13. You may this look so easy! How do you know where to start? Is there a tutorial?

Thanks Felicia. Do you mean a tutorial for the templates? Yes, I’m sure there is on YouTube (look for Lea France stencils). I just kind of go by the pictures I have and what seems to work best. Maybe I’ll make a tutorial one of these days!

We’ve only seen it rain once there (see my post on the letter “H”) but we were under the tent so it didn’t bother us at all. It is a very nice venue.
