James Taylor is the artist I am using for the letter “Y” as in “Your Smiling Face.” We were able to see Mr. Taylor along with Bonnie Raitt at AT&T Park, home of our San Francisco Giants. Gosh I miss baseball! They had lights on the trees and it was gorgeous.
I found this set of papers that I thought would work well.
Here’s the first page. We even had regular tickets! We had seats on the lawn and we got to go through an underground tunnel that we had never been through before. It made it even more exciting to get to the field that way. We had to pick them up from Will Call and that’s why we went in through the special entrance.
I have to put Bonnie Raitt’s pictures together as well and I only had time to get one page done for James Taylor. It’s really not done either but I don’t want to miss the deadline for the A to Z.
Here’s the setlist from the show. He sang a bunch! He was really engaging with the crowd and told some stories about his songs. He’s been around a long time.
A few more pictures. I got a lot of good ones so it is going to be fun putting it together.
Here is “Your Smiling Face” from that night.
I think given the name on my blog is “Janet’s Smiles” that’s a perfect song for me. One more day! Who is Z going to be? I’ll give you a hint. It’s NOT ZZ Top. I did them in 2017.
We saw James Taylor decades ago and he was good, genuine, funny. I see him now in photos and wonder who is that old guy? Then I remember that we’ve all aged. Kind of trippy.
I agree, Ally. He was funny and seemed very genuine. The pictures he had on the back screen showed him as a young man and yes, what a difference. He looks better than some though.
Well, did you know that James Taylor was on “The Voice” last week as a mentor I believe. He was really good and got along very well and helped the upcoming singers. Great job and have a great day! Stay healthy. Stay safe and STAY HOME!
I don’t watch that show but it sounds like that would be something he would do, help upcoming singers. He seemed like a nice guy. I’m at home working so that’s fortunate.
Speaking about baseball, have you heard the plans for this season? I heard they want to consolidate both leagues and split them into three divisions geographically, start in late June and play through October, and do the playoffs and World Series in November, probably in Florida, Texas or Arizona.
Yes, I heard that too. I also heard that they will play without the fans there. That’s sad, but at least then there would be current baseball to watch on TV instead of 30 year old past seasons. I haven’t been watching them.
I’ve been watching old World Series films on YouTube. My favorite so far is the 1959 Series between the White Sox and Dodgers. Amazing to see the guys I had only heard about growing up. I’ve been watching a lot of old White Sox games, particularly the ones played in Comiskey Park– the old one, at one time the oldest park in the majors, older than Wrigley and Fenway, lasted longer than the ones that ended up getting torn down (the Polo Grounds, Ebbets Field, Connie Mack Stadium, Forbes Field, Crosley Field etc. etc.) I spent some of the happiest hours of my life there. It’s gone now…

I’d say he hasn’t changed much in terms of his music anyway.

The idea of having a theme song delights me, and clearly you’ve got a good one Janet. Those lighted trees are fabulous – they look magical.

The whole atmosphere changes so much with those tree lights at night. I wish it were that easy to make people’s troubles go away. I keep trying.

Loved James Taylor, a fellow Airman used to play it in our dorm when I got to tech school.

He’s one of those ones I kind of forget about until a song comes on.
