And just in case you haven’t seen enough, here are a couple more pictures of my world at the moment.

Mind you, we are at least 80 to 100 miles away from any of the fires. The air quality is terrible.

And poor Benny just wants to go outside and play catch.

Hope you all are safe and well where you are. This year is quite a doozy, isn’t it?
Oh my, Janet, these fires are awful.

Yes, pretty devastating all around. Fortunately except for the bad air quality and weird sun, we are okay.

I’m glad to know that.

Oh my goodness that ash. Sorry to see this and hope there is an end in sight soon.

It is much better now. Our air quality is 28 today and has gotten down to single digits a couple of times this week. Thank goodness!

How do you say “no” to those puppy dog eyes? Happy to read that you’re safe, but talk about weird. As if this year could get any more difficult.

Right? Thankfully, today our air quality got down to 6 for a while and we had some heavy precipitation – maybe rain, during the night. I swear the sky the other day looked exactly like we were on some other planet.

We’re maybe 30 miles from the nearest fire. I saw the similar sights that you pictured here. It’s a little better today. For the past several days we’ve been keeping our windows shut and running the A/C periodically to keep things cool. The bad air quality was giving me a sore throat.
Oh well, with the COVID crap we’ve been mostly staying at home anyway. The bad air hasn’t really affected us that much other than keeping windows closed.
Take care.

That’s good. My eyes were burning a couple of days when I walked the dog but for the most part we’re staying in too. Quite a year we’re having!

We have been lucky here by the coast… only two days of ash and not much smoke. I hope you have an air purifier, breathing all that smoke can’t be good for your health. Be safe!

The only times I go out for any length of time are to walk the dog twice a day. I feel sorry for him because he really wants to go out and play catch but I won’t.

Interior air is bad too. My brother and sister-in-law (they live in Benicia) have three air purifiers in their home, and they are on all the time.

Janet,
WOW! I remember the 2016 wildfires the Smoky’s dealt with. We’re about 30+ miles from the park. I recall smelling the fires but I don’t remember if ash was a problem. It has to horrible to live in a place where wildfires are such a concern. Saying prayer the fires are extinguished and no more new ones start up. That’s crazy how the ask got inside your car. Stay safe, my friend. Saying extra prayers of protection for you and yours. Hugs!

Thanks Cathy. It is amazing to me, too, that the ash is coming down this far away from the actual fires. To think I am breathing that in when I walk the dog!

So terrible these fires. Hope they clear up soon. The photos of the orange skies I’ve seen and the ash is something else. Hope this doesn’t get any closer to you. It’s strange, too, that even here in TX we have smoke from the fires way out there. Our skies aren’t orange, just gray & hazy.

We are pretty safe here, not a lot of trees around us but anything could happen. The air quality is a little better today.

Hi, Janet – Thank you for sharing this. Even though Vancouver Island is fairly far away from these fires, we are also experiencing their effects in our air and environment (although not as intensely as yourself and others). Sending prayers to all affected by this horrible devastation.
