March Madness – 2021 5 Questions

Our blogging friend Ally, prompts us to answer the five following questions as part of her acceptance of the Outstanding Blogger Award, of which she is truly deserving.

Q1 – What’s your favorite movie? Too many. Hitchcock’s “Rear Window” jumped in my head.

Q2 – When trying to buy shoes, what’s your biggest problem? Trying to buy shoes is my problem. For some reason I have never liked that experience. Interesting, because as a Pisces, feet are supposed to be my body part.

My Unicorn slippers. Sadly, wore them out!

Q3 – Ice cream cone or cupcake? Cupcake definitely but actually just the frosting not the cake.

Q4 – What’s one good thing you have learned about yourself during this pandemic? I can most definitely handle being alone. While I miss dinners with a few friends and concerts where I can blend in with the crowd, I truly can occupy my time and be perfectly content in my own little world.

Part of my world. I need to take some new pictures of the studio.

Q5 – Any eccentric people in your family? Discuss. Eccentric is a fun word. I’d have to say my Auntie Annie was eccentric, but maybe she was just outgoing and to my quiet self that makes her eccentric. I know that she was fun to be around. She took me to Reno when I turned 21 so that I could gamble legally for the first time. We had a great trip. She was one of those people who started conversations with anyone and everyone and always knew the bartender! She and my mom are twins and total opposites. Annie worked as a waitress all her life and always had the most interesting stories to tell. This picture doesn’t really do her justice, but you can tell by the gold jacket she wasn’t afraid to stand out in a crowd.

Auntie Annie

I, like Ally, don’t feel comfortable trying to single out bloggers for awards since I feel that anyone who reads my drivel is outstanding and I don’t want to put undue pressure on folks to respond so I will just post my five questions here and if you are so inclined, feel free to answer them in the comments or on your own blogs. My questions are:

  • What is your favorite quote. I collect them.
  • If money were no object where would you go?
  • How many places have you lived or jobs have you held?
  • Have you tried meditation? Did it help you?
  • Who would you like to meet (living or dead) for dinner?

There you go. Thanks again, Ally, for giving me something to blog about today. Now I’m off to take pictures of more dolls for sale.

  1. Also being a crafter kept me busy… it hasn’t really bothered me to stay home as we had been staying home unless we were sitting in the car for a morning breakfast by the beach. I prob could never do meditation as my mind would wander as it does when I read snd I have to backtrack to reread! I’m always thinking of what I’m going to write or create!

  2. Janet,

I wasn’t sure how well having DH at home all day during the pandemic would go but it’s turned out to be a real blessing and I’d love to have him work from home all the time now. 🙂

I understand that. When I first started working from home I was alone most of the time. Then in 2013 my husband had to take an early retirement because of a disability and it was very different. I’m not sure it is something I would have chosen but it is working.

I enjoyed reading Ally’s post and I am curious about your answers, Janet. I have never seen a Hitchcock movie, since I am a scary cat. They are classics. Number 4 does not really surprise me since you have many creative pursuits. It was fun to learn more about you. I hope you and loved ones are well.🙂

HI Erica. Our friends at WP had your comment (two of them) in the spam folder! The Hitchcock movies can be a little nerve wracking but Rear Window is more a psychological thriller. We are doing well here, all double vaccinated in our house. Hope you guys are well too.

  5. Great answers! I wish I had an eccentric family member (at least the “good” kind of eccentric… I imagine there are “bad” kinds that are best avoided) but my family is lovely but dull 🙂 . I really think you should try to find new unicorn slippers… they are definitely you!

Love the picture of the studio. Being able to be alone is a good skill, plus you’re good company. 🙂 Love those slippers.

      As for your questions:

What is your favorite quote. I collect them.
Sooooo many. Hard to choose. For today, I’ll stick with Shakespeare: To thine own self be true.

If money were no object where would you go?
I would buy an oceanfront house and live there full time.

How many places have you lived or jobs have you held?
Lived in two states, but 6 places.

Have you tried meditation? Did it help you?
I’m a fan of meditation, but only recently found one that truly worked for me. 20 minutes, repeating the word ‘now’ to myself quietly every few seconds. It reminds me to stay present when my mind wanders, which it’s doing less and less.

Who would you like to meet (living or dead) for dinner?
Andy Warhol because I think it would be interesting to see how his mind works up close.

Thanks for answering my questions and linking to my post. Your answers are so you. I love them all. Rear Window is a good choice. And I’m a fan of cupcakes, too. Although one with some ice cream on the side would make it better. 😉

Your Auntie Annie sounds like a great influence on you. How cool that she took you to Reno for your 21st birthday. And that gold jacket? Now that’s something else.

    Happy Weekend, Janet!

Thanks Ally. Auntie Annie was the wild one of the twins. The stories about how they used to have to go out dressed alike and then Annie would change her clothes and slip off to the park to meet up with the boys and my mom would go to the library. Pretty funny stuff.
