So I’m starting November off with a plan to participate in the Ultimate Blog Challenge which really just means that I’m going to post every day in November. Do I even have that much to talk about? There is no theme although the organizer, Paul Taubman, sends out an email every day with some ideas. Today’s idea was to tell about the Ultimate Blog Challenge and why you are doing it.
I am doing the blog challenge for a couple reasons. One is that right now my transcription business is kind of slow so I have some extra time – not much but a little. Rather than just sit and play games (or clean house) I decided blogging would be a good idea. Also, I really am serious about getting more people to see my craft work and hopefully build my online presence in general. Plus, just as with the A to Z, by participating in the UBC, I will get a chance to meet some new bloggers since part of the process is to visit other people and leave comments.
Now that the explanation is out of the way, here are some cards I’ve been making for the shop for the upcoming holidays.

It is just the basic card right now because I was putting them together as I was watching the World Series and that means I have to bring things in the house from the studio since I can’t stream the game out there for some reason (probably Fox network blocking it). Now I have about 30 cards that I need to add a few details to and then post them. Stay tuned!
What are your plans for November? Do you send out Christmas cards? If you do send cards, do you prefer them blank inside so you can write your own message or would you rather have a sentiment inside? Just curious. See you tomorrow!
Your cards are beautiful! You’re very talented Janet!! I like cards that have a little something inside of them but also space for me to write a personal note. Good luck with the UBC!

Thanks so much. I think I may keep some blank or offer the option of having an insert. We’ll see how much time I have.

Plans for November aren’t exciting just working really. I used to send out Christmas cards but not anymore. I do make them for soldiers still! And will be doing that with my class next week. I like them to have writing inside so that I can just sign my name haha maybe throw in some stickers 😅

Making cards for soldiers is a nice gesture. I’ll be they really appreciate it. I like to be able to just sign my name too. Less for me to think of to write!

Some of them have time to write back! Especially if they know its from a student

I actually like blank so I can write a little original note. Thanks for joining the challenge!!

Thanks Kate. Maybe I will leave some blank and put sentiments in others.

I used to do cards when my daughter was younger…photo of her and the pets. Now that she is over 18 I won’t put her picture on a card, and I don’t send them out anymore, except for a few cousins and I include a note

I rarely do them now myself, although last year I did with a picture of the whole family we had taken on Thanksgiving. I’m not sure about this year. Funny that I make them but don’t send them, huh?

I love that you create cards. I send Christmas cards to friends and family every year.

Those cards are beautiful!! How neat that you are so talented. I can’t remember the last time I sent out a card, but I occasionally buy one if I know I will receive one, so it doesn’t feel lopsided.

Yes, Jeanine, that is usually the way. I’m thinking of putting together an assortment to sell in the shop for people to have on hand for those unexpected things.

Pleased to meet you. I’ve been doing UBC for awhile now. I used to send Xmas cards but not any more.

Hi. Nice to meet you too. I know that sending cards is not done as much as it used to be. I’m trying to bring the concept back – LOL

Hi Janet, I found out from your “now in October” post that you were going to participate in this Ultimate Blog Challenge, and I thought I’d give it a try as well. You know, in all of my spare time, hahahaha!
Your Christmas cards look very festive! I don’t send any to family and friends. We do so, however, at the office, and I just created some with a standard text printed on the inside, so the team members will only have to sign.

Hi! I was glad to see a familiar face in the challenge. I almost did it a few years ago but I noticed that there were a lot of spammy type accounts that had signed up for it and so I didn’t. This year I thought I’d give it a try. Interestingly, when you wondered if your comment wasn’t showing up I went into my trash and there it was along with 22 others! Gotta keep checking that now I guess.

Wow! You are so talented! I am a huge card sender. Send about 200 greeting cards per month. In the holiday months that number goes up. It is such a lost art and really touches people’s hearts. (I call it Mailbox Love.)

Wow that’s a lot of cards! Do you make them or buy them? Do you like them blank to write your own message or with a sentiment inside? Would you ever consider a subscription to a card club? That’s one of the ideas I have floating in my mind.
