Now in November…

Today’s prompt in the Ultimate Blog Challenge is to ask my dear readers if there is anything they want to know from/about me or my work/life. So, any questions?

That seems like such a short post so I’m going to fill a little bit more space with some other things I’ve been working on.

These are gift tags I’ve been making while we binge watch The Sopranos, which we didn’t see when it was on originally. We’re on the last season right now. We have to watch this before we watch the new movie that came out, The Many Saints of Newark. These gems will be in the Etsy shop soon! I’m using Creative Memories Christmas Lux Tag kit and the Under the Tree Holiday Tag Kit as my base and then adding my personal touches to them. I am a Creative Memories consultant so I’d be happy to assist you if you wanted to get some kits of your own to try your hand. They are pretty easy to make and have all the instructions included. I have a video on my YouTube channel showing some of the cards I made last year using the kits and the tags are similar. You could get a couple friends together and have a tag making party! I’ve been thinking of doing a Facebook or YouTube live program going where we would craft together. Does that sound interesting?

But wait, you were supposed to ask me questions…go for it!

Your tags are so beautiful. I remember doing Creative Memories scrapbooks when my kids were young and loved it. A fun question for you: how old are your kiddos? I have two and they are 20 and 22.

When did you start crafting, and what got you into it?

Thanks Deb. I’ve alway been a memory keeper, saving cards and ticket stubs, etc. I got really into scrapbooking and paper crafting about 2000. I made an album for my husband’s 50th surprise birthday party. Then I started making little mini-albums and cards. I find it very relaxing and I love to make custom things for people.

Nice video explaining how you take your standard material and embellish it to your liking!
    Have you always been crafty?
I think the tag making party is a fabulous idea you should pursue. Time difference and busy schedule permitting I would totally join.

Thanks Tamara! I’ve always kept scrapbooks. When I was younger it was keeping all the cards and ticket stubs and stuff like that in albums. I didn’t get into this detailed scrapbooking until around 2000. Thanks for subscribing too.

Favorite music when you’re working, or no music?

Thanks for playing, LA. I have my iTunes on all the time while I’m in the studio. I have an eclectic mix of music so I could go from the Scorpions to Dean Martin, Daughtry to Willie Nelson, Adele to Patsy Cline with some Motown thrown in. Sometimes I’ll stop crafting and dance. Very occasionally I’ll have Netflix on but I find I get less done when I do that. Of course during the baseball season I’m watching the Giants. I can’t craft in quiet.

What does being a Creative Memories Consultant involve?

Hi Amanda. Truthfully I started as a consultant to get discounted products for myself – LOL. The fee to be an advisor is $49 a year. They have different advisor promos during the year and from now until the end of the year if you join you pay $49 for a year and get $50 to use on product. Each year on your anniversary you get a code for $25 to spend, which actually makes the fee $24. I like the company because in addition to a lot of great products, there are NO commitments or minimum orders you need to make each month. No quotas or deadlines. Depending on how much you sell (even if it is to yourself) the commission you get goes higher. Right now I am on Level 2 so my commission is 25%. It’s like paying myself to shop! I don’t have anybody signed up under my name but if I did, I’d get a commission on what they sell as well. They do not have restrictions on selling either so I could sell the CM stuff on my website if I wanted. I can send you the link to the info if you are interested. Thanks for asking!

Where did you grow up? Have you always lived in the Bay Area?

Thanks for playing, E.A.! Yes. I was born in San Francisco and when I was almost 2 my family moved to San Bruno. I lived there until I moved out on my own – to an apartment in Millbrae. Lived in Millbrae for a few years and then when I met my future husband we lived together in South San Francisco for about a year or so before moving back to San Bruno. Living anywhere else would seem like a foreign country to me – LOL.
