Sandra at WST asks today, “Too Much.” I am not sure I know the meaning of too much. If you look in my studio you could say I have too much stuff. In fact, these are old pictures so if I took new ones, you’d really think there was too much.

Yet I could give you a few reasons why I need more of something!
I’ve said that my typing has slowed a bit but in the last week I’ve gotten 25 reports to do. Is that too much? No! It will mean that I can’t spend too much time in the studio for a few days though.
In my opinion, too much is a relative thing. I am, however, donating some things to PARCA next week because we do have too much stuff that we don’t use anymore. What about you? Do you think I have too much stuff in the studio? Do you have too much stuff?
I think too much is a relative term. Too much for the space, too much that you don’t use, too much for a minimalist etc. Himself is a minimalist so struggles with my maximalism. I’m working on cutting back those things which are excess to needs, but he has issues with strangers coming to the apartment to pick stuff up, so that limits my ability to get rid of the bigger items without his involvement. So we’re a work in progress there. But I suspect we’re all always a work in progress with our stuff.

In my opinion you do not have too much stuff in your studio because you’re making use of the stuff for your work/art/sanity. As for do we have too much stuff in our house, I’m getting rid of the excess one box at a time. I like stuff, but it has to be the right stuff that brings me joy, not angst.

That is exactly right, although I’m not going as far as the Marie Kondo approach. I don’t feel the need to talk to every single thing I’m donating.

Mostly I agree. My hubby is cleaning out his garage as we speak. That’s a wonderful thing.

I don’t think it’s too much as long as you’ve used these items in the past 6 months!
Also, the crayon melt painting- my cousin sister made the exact same painting as well!

My daughter did that. I love it. Truthfully there are some things that I haven’t used in 6 months out there but as I go through and reorganize, I get new ideas for them. Also, selling some stuff I know I won’t use on the Etsy site.

As long asyou can move around in the studio and things aren’t falling off the tables, you should be OK.

That’s it exactly, John. I have a path that I can walk all around the work table and everything is in reach.

As a Minimalist, it looks too busy for me. ☺️

I totally understand that, John. I actually took these pictures shortly after I moved things into the studio we built in our backyard. I have reorganized some things but there is still quite a lot. Still, I know where everything is and there is some order to it.

That’s good, I didn’t mean to sound a bit crass, sorry. 🤭

Oh no, not at all! It is a busy little place and I could see it being overwhelming!
