Designed by !melk in 2022, the Wind Baffles are lit from the outside and though made from steel, they look a lot like giant flowers. They are situated in a tiny park in the middle of the South of Market District. It was easy to spot these as I drove down the street.

Best Viewing: After dark along Mary Street between Natoma and Minna.
Really short post today. I was awakened at 3 AM by a call from the doctor that one of my MIL’s blood tests came back at a critical level and he wanted us to take her to the ER to get checked immediately. Three hours later a repeat blood test was in her usual range. Not sure we needed to wake up a 97-year-old and drag her to the hospital for something that was nothing. She is home and fine but I’m exhausted. See you tomorrow for X.

The blue wind baffles must have been so awesome in person. Sometimes these drs just don’t think. Glad your mil is ok… poor thing being woken up. My mother would have probably told me she wasn’t going anywhere!

My goodness. Sorry to hear about your MIL. Glad she is OK. These flower sculptures are delightful and soothing, due to the blue color. I wish we had more like these in NYC.

Fortunately all is well. Sometimes I think those doctors over react. On the other hand, I’d have felt awful if something happened because I ignored their advice. It amazes me the different art sculptures and unusual things that they have all over SF. You’d think it would be too crowded for all that.

Thanks! Yeah, I had no idea Kaiser did things like that. Nice to know that it was just a faulty test result but I was sorry to have to drag my MIL out of bed at that hour.

Yes, thinking about it now it was totally unnecessary but at 3 AM I’m not always thinking straight.

Better safe than sorry, perhaps.

Yes but I think we could have waited until the morning rather than waking up a 97-year-old woman at 3 AM.
