Decidedly December 2023

Well, here’s to another year just about gone. I don’t know where my blogging spirit went. I don’t know where anything went actually. I do some end of year reflecting and one of the questions was “What was amazing this year?” I couldn’t think of anything amazing that happened during the year. I mean, there were some cool things. My A to Z lights adventure was interesting, our concerts were good, our trip to Las Vegas was fun, but nothing hit me as an OMG THAT’S AMAZING moment. How about you? Anything amazing for you this year?

I haven’t posted since October I see. I’ll give you a quick recap of the last couple of months.

We had our 50th high school reunion and it turned out very well. We figure that over the course of three days we managed to see about 100 or so different classmates. We are thinking of having a birthday party for us all when we turn 70 in two years!

I caught the full moon as I do, but I need a new camera because mine broke and I had to use my husband’s and I don’t like it as much as my old one.

I fell going UP the escalator in Barnes and Nobel because it was broken and I had just gotten new bifocals so I wasn’t used to the line. I got a big bruise on my thigh but you don’t want to see that.

I made some new things for the Holiday Boutiques I was doing. I had a total of 4 of them over the course of about 3 weeks. Didn’t do as well as I hoped but at least I made the table fees at all of them. You can find these goodies in my Etsy shop now too!

I have a pair of slippers that have sparkles on them and when I stand in the reflection of the light coming in from the window it does a light show on the wall. You should see it when I move!

We went to see my idol, Stevie Nicks, as our final concert of the year. She never disappoints. Did you hear they made a new Barbie doll in her likeness?

Caught the sunset from my front porch. It is amazing what the sky looks like some times.

Last but not least, our little Christmas tree. It is the smallest one we’ve had since the year of the Charlie Brown tree when I was the only one home. I just wasn’t into doing all the work it takes to put up a big one and decorate the whole house. Maybe next year.

This will probably be the final post from me this year. I’m still going to make my vision cards for next year but probably won’t post about them until then. I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends and here’s to a prosperous New Year for us all. Appreciate you for stopping by!

Merry Christmas! Hope you’re fully healed after your fall. Nothing amazing happened here either. May 2024 be better.

    Hi, Janet!

I’m glad I didn’t miss your last post of 2023, dear friend, and grateful that you did not miss mine. Thanks for recapping your adventures and misadventures during the time that has elapsed since your last post. I had been wondering how your 50th reunion went. I’ll bet you were the belle of the ball. I’m dreadfully sorry you took a tumble on the escalator. That’s scary. I’m happy your injuries were not serious and that you are on the mend.

I would love to see a live Stevie Nicks performance. Lucky you. No, I was not aware that they came out with a Stevie Nicks inspired Barbie Doll. Your Christmas tree is very cute. I just hope my buddy Benny doesn’t tinkle on it. πŸ™‚ (Be sure to walk him often.) Beautiful shots of the moon and the sunset!

As you know, the most amazing thing that happened to me and Mrs. Shady in ’23 was our escape from bright red Florida on the “Underground Railroad” (the Orlando-area auto train) and settling into our new house in the true blue mid-Atlantic region. Our neighborhood is surrounded by woods, affording me the opportunity to view colorful fall leaves for the first time in 40 years. A couple of weeks ago, we had our first significant snow event, and I was like an excited kid standing by the window cheering as the the snowflakes fell, knowing that it would mean schools would be closed the next day. I have not regretted coming north for a single moment. I love the cold, I love the snow and love the diversity in my new city. Everyone is friendly up here. I suppose it is time for us to start agonizing about the upcoming 2024 election. I don’t look forward to all the drama that lies ahead!

I want you to know that I am thinking about your mother again this holiday season, and I also think about Bill’s mother quite often. My wish is that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and many blessings in the coming year. Happy holidays to you and my buddy Benny, dear friend Janet!

    • Hi my friend! You were indeed in my trash can. I am so sorry that WP does not realize what good buddies we are! I am so happy that you were able to get out of that horrible state. I, too, am not looking forward to all the drama that is sure to come this year. Hopefully the truth and justice will prevail. I know I am trying to spread the word as much as I can.

The tree is up high enough that our Benny can’t get to it. Last year he tried to drink the water because it was on the ground but he didn’t pee on it. He’s such a good boy.

Bill’s mom did not want her house decorated so we didn’t. I’m actually grateful for that.

Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us next year! Take care.
