Did She Give Up??

Hey there my friends in bloglandia. How the heck are you? I have been severely MIA since my last post in May of last year! I have been commenting on your blog posts occasionally but really I just haven’t had the inspiration or made the time to write my own. Why is that? I really give tons of props to those of you who can post every day. The only time I even come close to managing that is for the A to Z in April or if I’m in another challenge.

Since it is now February and the A to Z season is fast approaching I decided I needed to get my hand back in the game and make a few practice posts. So here is my hand, literally!

You may or may not remember that a few years ago I lost my wedding ring. It was soldered into an enhancer so I thought it was safe but unfortunately since I wear it 365 24/7 and had done so for well over 30 years, I guess it kind of wore itself out. In any case, I looked down at my hand one day and all that was left was the enhancer.

Obviously I couldn’t just walk around with a gaping hole there so I found another ring I had and put it in that spot. I wore that one for a while and then decided to switch it out for a pearl ring that I thought looked better. I didn’t give up hoping I would find my original set somewhere. Then I started looking at the pearl ring and realized that it was getting worn as well.

In May of this year we had our 40th wedding anniversary. I had wanted to do a thing and renew our vows and thought I’d get a new ring then but as usual life got in the way and a vow renewal never happened. Finally I told my husband that what I wanted for Christmas was a new ring. Being the great husband that he is, he told me to go get myself one. How romantic is that – LOL.

So I now have a new ring that I love. Not quite as much as my original set but it’s a pretty close second and I figure that it should last for another 40 years.

Now that I’ve brushed off the cobwebs maybe I’ll get another post or two in before the A to Z starts. I just picked my theme thanks to a suggestion from Tamara Gerber-Stutz. In any case, I hope that you all haven’t given up on me and will start following my adventures again!

Nice to see you, Janet!👋 What a shame about losing your ring, but the new one looks lovely. Have fun with the A to Z Challenge! I did it 4 years in a row and that was enough. 😄

    Hi, Janet!

Using the tool that allows me to log onto to your site using my Google account, I composed and submitted a comment to your new post yesterday. As before, my comment vanished immediately, sorted, I suspect, to your spam bin. Would you kindly look for it there and publish it if possible?

It’s great to see you back on the blogging scene, dear friend!

    Hi, Janet!

It’s great to see that you have not given up on blogging and have returned to semi-active duty after a long absence. I’m happy that you are back in action, dear friend. By this time, I owe you a dozen comments, because you have been faithfully following my blog all this time.

Yessum, as you might recall, the unfortunate loss of your ring was the lead story around the time you and I established a blog friendship a few years back. I’m delighted that you moved past the loss by finding a new symbol of your commitment to Bill, one that you certainly can be proud to wear.

I am eager to learn about the theme you selected for this year’s A To Z. Take care of yourself and my buddy Benny until we connect again, dear friend Janet.

    • I am amazed by your memory, Dear Shady! I know it was a few years but couldn’t pinpoint when we started communicating here. I may try to integrate the Blogger function on my A to Z journey this year because I know it is easier for you to comment. And I so enjoy your insights! I am sorry I missed your last couple of Shady shows but I’ll try to remember to look for it next month. Thanks for taking the time to visit me!

  4. Hi, Janet
I hope your A to Z goes well. I have decided to take a year off, although I had begun to prepare a few posts. I am working on too many projects and something has to give!

You and your husband are a lot like Mary and me. We want something, we tell the other, the other says “go out and buy it,” and when we get it, we thank the other.

    • I guess that’s what happens when you’ve been married so long. I remember my mom getting herself jewelry at Christmas, wrapping it and putting it under the tree. When she opened it (and pretended surprise) my dad would say, “Let me see what I bought you this year.” LOL

Hey, Janet! Good to hear from you again! All your photos of rings are so pretty. It will be good to read your blog posts whenever you do one, and yes, A2Z will be coming up soon. 🙂

  7. Aw, there’s nothing like having a ring that you love and want to wear 365 24/7! I’m glad you managed to find a replacement, which can be hard when you’ve had something for such a long time. And I hear you about being absent from blogging, I’m the same and am also planning to do the A to Z again this year, because I realise that I miss it.
