X is for Xenial over Xenophobia

My theme for this year’s A to Z Challenge is the A to Z of Democracy. This is your trigger warning. If you are going to be bothered by my descriptions of what I believe America should look and feel like, please stop reading and come back next year when my topic may go back to music or scrapbooking or interesting tidbits. Please respect my space and DO NOT leave disinformation or inflammatory statements in the comments. It’s my blog and I will delete them. Thanks for your cooperation.

XenialXenophobia
Hospitable
Treating guests and strangers with friendliness and generosity
Fear or hatred of strangers or foreigners.

“They’re eating the dogs!” That was the battle cry during the 2024 election. I mean, really how much more xenophobic can you get? Ice grabbing up anybody that looks like the are from a foreign country whether they have committed crimes here or not. It’s just disgusting. Even the way #47 has treated some of the foreign leaders has been so undignified. (Zelenskyy for starters)

And yet, the ones that get the most hospitable treatment are the ones that bring golden gifts. I mean, I haven’t seen him give anyone else a gift but he sure likes to take them. The display he put on when Putin came was ridiculous.

I really pray that we can get some dignity back in the White House soon!

As always, credit goes to Speaker Hakeem Jeffries who gave an impassioned speech on the floor of the House of Representatives at the beginning of the 218th congress.

You’re right, dignity has flown out the window. What’s left is deplorable.

    • I just don’t understand how people can’t see this. ANY OTHER president from either side would have been so gone by now.

I’ve come to the conclusion that he either has a mountain of dirt on power players in congress or elsewhere or people who are gaining $$ in the stock market are motivated to let him do what he wants as long as they are making money. Probably both. It isn’t because he’s a nice person or has any class.

  3. Love this! (your take, not the behavior you described)

Everyone should choose xenial, but it’s definitely lacking these days.

    Great post!

Xenial was a new word for me. Certainly, xenophobia is rampant in our times. Sadly, it’s far from the first time in our history and now the teaching of the dark parts of our history is being cancelled out. I admit I’m not optimistic about the Democrats living up to Jeffries’ list. Alana ramblinwitham

I couldn’t believe he and Vance treated Zelenskyy so terribly.

  6. Racism and xenophobia go hand in hand. People have always been afraid of those not like them. The white man destroyed thousands of Indigenous people in South America, Central America,, and on islands like Tahiti and Hawaii, bringing them the word of God, venerial disease, and smallpox. And, if anyone siad anything, it was the dirty heathens who were to blame. That nonsense about eating dogs was just that, but in reality, some people are forced to eat dog food because of all his social cuts.

I was wondering what you would post for X. Xenophobia does indeed describe the current president.
