Jim Adams has chosen the good reporter’s questions, Who, What, When, Where, Why and How as our theme for today. So many possibilities!
This reminds me of when we were raising the kids. If they wanted to go somewhere with their friends, we always told them not to bother asking us if they couldn’t answer the questions: Who were they going with? What were they going to do? When were they going to be home? Where were they going? How were they getting there? The Why was kind of obvious – to get away from their parents who asked too many questions – LOL.
I wanted to use a song by Adele off her “25” album, “Why Do You Love Me?” but it seems there is no video for it. It was a bonus track on that album, available only if you bought it from Target. It is a really catchy tune and if you get a chance you should try and have a listen somewhere.
So I decided to go with “Where Or When” written by Rogers and Hart, as sung by Rod Stewart on his “As Time Goes By” album. He did a series of oldies called “The Great American Songbook” and this is on Volume II. Quite a departure from his normal rock. We’ve seen Rod a couple of times and I always have to check the setlist before my husband will go because this style is not his cup of tea.
We looked at each other in the same way then
But I can’t remember where or when
The clothes you’re wearing are the clothes you wore
The smile you are smiling you were smiling then
But I can’t remember where or when
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before, and loved before
But who knows where or when
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before, and loved before
But who knows where or when
Who knows where or when
From a show my daughter and I saw in 2009:
That’s all I got for today. Make sure to check out some of the other #SLS gang. Pretty great songs out there. Happy last day of June. What am I gonna call the blog next month?

New songs for me Janet – and I loved your parenting technique (and the assumed answer to the Why? question!)

Glad I could introduce you to something new. Truth be told I still ask those questions of the two “kids” (22 and 31) who are living here. Sometimes I even get an answer – LOL

Nice easy sounding song. Yes, it’s a different type of music I associate with Rod Stewart.
All good questions to ask your kids before they go out. Our parents asked them, and we asked them of our girls, too. 🙂

I think it’s important to let the kids know that we trust them, but also that we care.

I don’t remember that song, but I was a fan of his back in the 80s. I love that you commented that he spent a lot of time on his hair! LOL! So cool that you got to see him in concert. Hope you’re having a great Sunday!

LOL yes, he makes a big deal about how long it used to take him to get it “just right.” He really puts on a good show too.

LOL – I wonder what product he found that works best for him?! I bet he does. I used to jam the songs on a cassette tape I had of the albumn with Maggie May on it – It Had to Be You?

Rod sounds different on this song than I’ve heard him before. Still good as he sings this timeless classic. Good one, Janet

Yes, not quite so raspy. There are quite a few good ones on these albums.

I love the questions with the kids. Rod Stewart–when “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” came out, my mom confiscated the tape because it was “too dirty” for me to listen to. When she hears the stuff her grandkids listen to, it’s hilarious. Old Rod was tame compared to nowadays. Great song you chose and Rod performed it very, very well.

Thanks, Dawn. I keep trying to tell my son that you don’t have to talk dirty to get your point across! He is coming around to that now, listening to some oldies from the 50’s!

An interesting choice Janet, thanks for sharing this. Did you see the musical Babes In Arms?

Thanks, Jim. I try to go with something I don’t think others will do. No, I have not seen Babes in Arms. Is that what the song is from?

I did not see it either, but I think that is where the song comes from.

My parents always asked the same questions with my brother and I, and then I started when I was in my 20’s asking them the same questions and my mom would get SO angry with me lol

I love when we can turn that stuff around on our parents, don’t you? When I do something like that with my mom she looks so sheepish!

Haha!! Sheepish is ok, it’s all in good fun. But my mom would actually get super angry about it lol
