Happy Halloween to all! A couple of nights ago our dog, Benny, woke us up with his barking at about 3 in the morning. When my husband went to check to see what the issue was, he saw a raccoon on our front porch. He opened the door to shoo it away and found this:

Guess the raccoon had a sweet tooth!
It was a really cute idea but given the propensity of raccoons in our little neighborhood, we chose not to bring visitors to anyone else’s house at 3 AM! (I did briefly consider putting it on the neighbors porches we are not particularly fond of – just kidding!)
For the last day of the Rocktober Music Fest I had to go with my girl, Stevie Nicks. Gold Dust Woman is from the Rumor’s album. I think it is particularly fitting for today since toward the end of the song Stevie goes into a frenzied dance which looks kind of spooky.
Stevie has said that it is a “crackhead dance,” acting out her memories of being under antipsychotic medication (from the book “Gold Dust Woman” by Stephen Davis – a great read if you are a Stevie Nicks fan).
Once again a big thank you to Mary at JingleJangleJungle for hosting a really fun Rocktober Fest. Hope everyone enjoyed playing along. What fun can we come up with for November?

“Sweet” gesture! Poorly timed, given the raccoons, but so nice! We can’t keep squash of any kind outside, the squirrels believe it is food and not decor. They’re right, of course, but it does cut down on one’s festive feeling 😉

Yes it does. We have not done any pumpkin carving in a long time.

Fun package idea! Years ago we received a Do It yourself TP Kit that included a roll of TP and a popcorn cake for us to enjoy. Another time they left a different version that included paper TeePees left all over the yard with a note that said we’d been TeePee’d.
Thank you so much for joining in this month for #RocktoberMusicFest. I had a lot of fun! Let’s do it again next year 🙂

Our old neighborhood does this and they have two or three different “starts” every year. It was particularly fun if we knew a neighbor had a financial/emotional need to include gift cards or words of encouragement. It’s too bad you had an entitled raccoon steal your joy!

I think it was a great idea too. Guess we just have to be careful.

My daughter got one of these packafes delivered to her door. Still doesn’t know who did it, but it’s a fun thing happening 🤗 Shd passed it on to neighbors and her grown kids.

Yes, definitely a fun thing, especially if there are kids in the house.
