Lionel Richie has been one of my favorites for a long time. As he says in his act, he’s got a song for just about every emotion you can have. I’ve listened to him when I was happy and when I was sad. I’ve danced to his songs and cried to his songs. This is from the time we saw him in 2013. We saw him again in 2017 and Mariah Carey was his opening act. I wasn’t impressed with her, but Lionel was great again.
For the 2013 pictures I went with a set of papers called “Rugged” from Creative Memories with a couple of extras thrown in. I liked the rough edges and the colors went well with the pictures.

Here’s the set list. 26 songs and he could have gone on longer! He mixed in some Commodore songs with his own.
How about some “Dancing on the Ceiling?”
Well that’s the letter “R.” Do you like Lionel? Have a favorite song? Mine is “Lady” which he actually sang with the Commodores. Hopefully I’ll see you tomorrow!

You can’t make this stuff up. Day before yesterday, my co-worker replied in an email “that’s ok Jill, I’m easy like Sunday morning” We had a good laugh and then went through all the Lionel songs we could think of. My favorite is “Brick House” from his Commodores days. Came out in a time of my life where I was still developing musical tastes. Very popular with lots of airplay. Friday night school dances in the gym and “Brick House”. Nostalgia at its’ finest.

Absolutely! Sometimes I think there’s something a little cosmic going on when those things happen. Like someone really is out there listening to our conversations or even the thoughts in our head 🙂

Aww! That takes me back. “Truly” was one of our wedding songs. Now I’m all nostalgic! Your pics and pages are truly creative. Nicely done!

That’s a beautiful song for a wedding. Glad I stirred some happy memories.

I saw Lionel twice before he left the Commodores – both were amazing concerts.
I was a HUGE Mariah Carey fan in the 90s. Saw her twice too. She started getting spotty for me in the early 2000s, and the last ten years or so, I don’t even know her. 😀 😀

I’ll bet those Commodore shows were great. I don’t know why but Mariah has never really done anything for me and she seemed particularly full of herself.

I love the color groupings on the page that you did with the stencil where it goes from red to blue to white. It looks nice. Weekends In Maine

Thanks! It is kind of like putting a puzzle together. I don’t think I’m actually done with embellishing it but it’s a good start.

A great R choice Janet. I love his music, although I’m not sure I could choose a favorite. Your gummy smile makes me laugh. I definitely like that Rose Window layout.

Thanks, Deborah. I have a habit of chewing gum all the time and there are several of my concert selfies that show it. I should try and remember to at least put it under my tongue!

When I saw the set list, I checked to make sure “Brick House” was on it. It was….

I actually got a video of “Brick House” because it is one of my favorites too but it didn’t come out as good as the “Dancing on the Ceiling” one.

My niece was his personal asst. for a time. She use to take pics of her getting on his plane and then ask me guess who was taking the pic of her. 😉 It was him of course. He’s a great guy and uber talented !!!

How fun that must have been! He seems like a really nice guy but you never know. It’s nice to hear he was.
