San Francisco Fest in September 2016 was supposed to be like the old Day on the Green concerts they used to do in Oakland back when Bill Graham was alive. It was almost an all day affair, starting at three in the afternoon. Tower of Power opened, followed by the Doobie Brothers, then by Steve Miller, Santana next and finally Journey. I suppose I could use San Francisco Fest as my “S” but I’m going to stick to just Santana.
Carlos Santana’s wife is one of the drummers and she really got into it. There was an exhausting drum solo (looked exhausting for her anyway and actually I thought it went on just a little too long). I had a red guitar which kind of matches Carlos’.
I have a lot of extras to go with this show. There was a pamphlet that they gave out telling the times of the shows and a history of the Day on the Green Festivals
I even have a review from the paper the next day and some confetti that they shot out at the end of the show.
Here is Maria Maria:
There’s “S.” One week left to go! Thanks for coming along with me!

Thanks Jill! This is going to be a lot of pages by the time I’m done with all the bands that were there that night!

OH, my GOSH – I would’ve loved that concert! Great job documenting it. Are the venues like that being canceled in your state too? Our summer fests and fall fests are being canceled already. π¦ Take care and stay safe!

Yes, we have had no concerts scheduled around here, although the Mountain Winery sends me updates once in a while saying they will be trying to start later in the year. I’m not counting on anything.

Our concerts were rescheduled, but we’ll see if they even happen or not? Our favorite Winery opened up for take out only. It’s sad, they have such a short season as it is. We miss being able to go there and sit out in the yard and enjoy a glass of wine. π¦

I got to see Santana once with the mister before we left Cali – such a great concert!

The chevron paper was a great choice. I have fond memories of the Santana concert I attended. No pictures though.

I wonder sometimes if I’m missing something because I take so many pictures but when I start putting the pages together I realize that I still remember it all, even years later.

I love including a lot of memorabilia on my pages. The chevron paper does match the Santana sign. Weekends In Maine

I agree. That memorabilia really helps, doesn’t it? I was just struck by the papers immediately but had to tone it down a bit with the solid mats.

I’m really happy to see he brought Jorge out and covered “Suavecito.” That’s a beautiful song, and Malo is the best band everyone forgot.

Thanks Janie! I was afraid it was too busy but adding the mats on the pictures helped tame it a bit.

I thought it might be too busy but it really did match the Santana so I toned it down a little with the mats behind the pictures I think.

Hey, you’re welcome. I am kind of having fun reliving the shows myself! As I’m putting the pages together I’m thinking about fun things that happened.

I like Santana. I always have. Your pages for the concert seem perfect for him. And now I’ll be humming Smooth for the rest of the day. This is a good thing, btw.

That chevron paper looks like it was made to go with that Santana sign. So cool!

Thanks Joy. That’s what I thought when I saw it. I know I’m going to have to add some different papers to it because I have a LOT of pictures from all the bands that day.

OOO I really got into Santana when I was in highschool lol bought a whole bunch of his CD’s and pretended I was cool enough to listen to them lol

I’m sure you were plenty cool enough! He wasn’t a huge favorite of mine but I do like a lot of his stuff. I remember my sister and brother-in-law had an 8-track (yes, I’m THAT old) and I used to listen to it when I was babysitting their kids.

Haha It was a phase because a guy I liked learned one of his songs and played it for me so I sought it out. I have to be in the right mood for it though haha itβs a very special sound
