Road trips are fun to go on occasionally. For longer ones, like to Reno, I do the driving so hubby can stretch his back but for short hops he drives. That allows me to take pictures of the interesting things we see as we go along, like the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile, which is huge, the castle hidden behind some trees, the snow on the mountains and our old friend the Golden Gate Bridge on our return home. We even saw Elvis in his pink Cadillac once. Of course sometimes we have to stop and take a break before we continue.

While I never went for ice skating, rollerskating is something I really liked to do. I even got myself a pair of skates. The old fashioned kind with four wheels, not rollerblades where they are all in a line like ice skates. Bill was a pretty good skater in his time too. We both enjoyed skating around the rink to the great music. I am not sure it would be such a good idea to do that now, even though my recent bone density scan shows that I have good bones. No sense asking for trouble, right?

And my final suggestion for a date is to go to a rooftop and check out the view. No pictures for that but I know that there are a lot of rooftop restaurants. In fact, there is a new one called Rooftop 25 that recently opened in San Francisco. I can remember going to the Top of the Mark when I was younger and while that wasn’t exactly outside on the rooftop, it was at the top of the Mark Hopkins hotel and the room would spin in a circle so you could see the whole city while you ate. We did have dinner on the rooftop at the Mountain Winery once but won’t do that again as we didn’t think it was worth the price.
Okay, that covers R. As I look in my draft folder I see there are less and less posts in there. We must be moving right along!

I used to do a lot of the driving with my ex, but now Himself mostly drives, and doesn’t need me to map read, which is a boon as I’m terrible at it. Roller skating requires balance, so that’s both of us out! 😀 But sitting on a roof top and enjoying the view is enjoyable. The last time we did that was on top of the Mercedes building while we watched historic cars racing around a track. The coffee was top notch too!

Yeah, I’m afraid rollerskating is out for me too. That rooftop race watching sounds like fun.

Well, with gas prices it may not be a good time, although we get really good mileage on our Honda and hubby is retired and I work from home so we don’t use the car for much. Thanks for stopping by!

We do, Ronel. Doing this A to Z and finding the old pictures reminds me of the fun we’ve had along the way. Thanks for visiting.

I want to go on a road trip again. I remember doing those in the before times. I used to roller-skate, but no more– and that’s fine by me. I also want to go to a local restaurant that recently opened a rooftop bar. I don’t think I’ll see much from three floors up, but it sounds like fun.

“In the before times.” Sounds like a line from a Mad Max movie…may start using it if you don’t mind. We are fortunate to have tall buildings in the city so we’d have a pretty good view if you’re not scared of heights. Thank goodness my car gets good gas mileage and the fact that I work from home makes it a little easier to spend the money on gas for a road trip since I don’t need to use gas commuting. Thanks for stopping by, Ally!

Road trips and roof top views both seem like great ideas. Romantic too…

Rooftop bars are super expensive but a cute rooftop picnic or just sitting up there is super cute

I forgot to write it but we climbed on the rooftop to watch fireworks once. Had to climb out the bathroom window to get there but it was fun.

Love that ride over the Golden Gate… so much fun to grab photos on the road trips… and we def have seen some interesting sites. The snow up on the cascading rocks is beautiful. Glad its not on the road.

We only had one trip where we had to turn around because it was snowing too hard. Glad my phone takes good pictures because I don’t always bring my camera with me.

I absolutely love roller skating, there is just something about the movement that’s very enjoyable. And road trip is the only way I want to travel these days. Take in the scenery we’d otherwise miss.
