It’s been a whole month already! I don’t know about you but I’ve been feeling like I’m on a roller coaster. To give you a glimpse, on the 17th of May I got my second COVID booster. I had no reaction right away. A week later I either had a very delayed reaction or the worst cold I’ve had in years. I was sore and achy, had some head congestion and cough but mostly was just so tired. All of those are symptoms of Covid but I took two home tests and both were negative. I’m fine now but it was not fun.
Then at the end of May we lost a very close friend. Liver disease. He had been a drinker his entire life and it finally caught up with him. He had been at the hospital with us for the birth of our first daughter. He was not even old enough to be on Medicare!
I have been consumed with watching the January 6th Committee Hearings. Anger, frustration, fear, pride and gratitude to the brave Americans who stood up for the constitution, so many emotions.
And yet, there have been some fun things. I had a chance to sell my creations at our city’s annual Posy Parade.

We had a nice dinner with some close friends and there was a book sale at the library! Fill a bag of books for $10. Here’s what I got but I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t pick more. I could have filled another bag full I’m sure. Lots of Koontz and mostly all mysteries except for a couple that are on my scratch off poster of 100 books to read. I even got two that I already have so next time I’m bringing my list so I can be more selective.

We celebrated the anniversary of moving into our house. It was on Flag Day 26 years ago. We did a little facelift on it a few years ago. It’s been a great place for us.

We had a family dinner at Benihana’s. First time we have eaten there as a family since 2017.

And last but not least, I’ve been doing a lot of work in the studio since I haven’t had much transcription. I even made another Instagram reel! You can see these things on the Etsy site. Feel free to share!

Hubby and I also watched the mini-series on Hulu called “Dopesick” about the Oxycontin addiction. It starred Michael Keaton and was really good.
So you can see my month has been all over the place. Did you miss me?
I’m sorry you felt poorly for a while but, thank goodness, you are better now. I wonder sometimes about those home Covid tests that read negative. I’ve heard of several people who had “the worst cold ever” yet tested negative. I also know several people who have been fully jabbed yet have gotten sick. So far my husband and I have remained healthy, but I imagine it will come for us too at some point.
Enjoy your Fourth of July celebrations – those brave souls testifying at the hearings make me feel more positive for this country.

Hi Janis! If I hadn’t just had the booster, I would definitely have been skeptical of the home tests but I’m pretty sure it was just a reaction. I am still being careful when out in public, especially indoors.
Happy 4th to you and yours too. I will be more hopeful if we get a majority come November, or if they actually file charges on the ringleader(s).

Having an excuse to read completely without guilt is the best, although I’m sorry to hear that you had to get so ill for it to happen. I’m glad you’ve recovered. It thought you’d been quiet & hoped you were OK, so am sorry to hear about the downs, and glad you had those ups to balance things out. Happy house-versary! 😀

Sometimes I forget I’ve read something until I read the first page. One time I tried to buy a book on my Kindle and Amazon kindly told me I had already bought it. Sounds like there was some fun along with the “stuff.”

How nice of Amazon to refresh your memory! Going through the month for this post helped me remember the good times.

HI Janet, it’s lovely to see you and read all your news. I’m sorry about your reaction to the Covid jab. I had Covid in March and it was horrible. The tiredness is dreadful and takes weeks to disappear. A lovely picture of your home and family.

Thanks Roberta! I was surprised, if it was a reaction to the shot, that it took so long to manifest. I did kind of enjoy being able to spend the day in bed reading though, to be honest!
