L is for Liberty over Limitation

My theme for this year’s A to Z Challenge is the A to Z of Democracy. This is your trigger warning. If you are going to be bothered by my descriptions of what I believe America should look and feel like, please stop reading and come back next year when my topic may go back to music or scrapbooking or interesting tidbits. Please respect my space and DO NOT leave disinformation or inflammatory statements in the comments. It’s my blog and I will delete them. Thanks for your cooperation.

LibertyLimitation
Being free from oppressive restrictions.
Able to make your own choices.
Unreasonable restrictions
Laws
Constraints

The Constitution of the United States guarantees its citizens the right to life, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness, not life, LIMITATIONS, and the pursuit of happiness. Patrick Henry said, “Give me LIBERTY, or give me death,” not “Give me limitations or give me death.”

Now clearly there have to be some LIMITATIONS and laws regarding the safety of others. You can’t just take a gun and start shooting people for no good reason (oh wait, we DON’T have good restrictions regarding that, do we?)

Women should have the LIBERTY to decide whether or not to have a baby and should be protected against rape and incest. People should be able to love who they want and have the ability to feel comfortable in their own skin (oh wait, we DO have restrictions on that, don’t we!)

Seems like we have gotten a few things backward. Time to make some changes!

As always, credit goes to Speaker Hakeem Jeffries who gave an impassioned speech on the floor of the House of Representatives at the beginning of the 218th congress.

I havehad a crazy two weeks which have shown how absolutely smart I was in deciding no A to Z challenge for me this year. i thought that would mean more time to rad others posts and make comments. But alas here it is the 16th, and I’m just now getting time to look at the a to z posts from people like you on my blog roll.

I think we need Liberty and limitations. First of all let’s make sure no one takes any liberties messing with the limitation of 2 terms for our Presidents. Trump said in his most recent State of The Union that if not fpr the 2020 election/ He’s be in his third term by now. That made me wish that He had won and that He was no longer able to be president again.

Also if we could find a way to limit his social media presence, I’d be okay with that. https://dave-homeschooldad.blogspot.com/2026/04/marty-1955-movie-review.html

I hope he will give you a chance to do so. Now that he’s started that stupid war, he can decide to cancel the election, too. All those old goats expecting to lose their seats would support that for sure.

  3. I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose basic rights the way women and other groups have in the US. There’s an unnecessary war going on ostensibly to free people from tyranny, and yet, an almost identical and possibly even worse tyrrany is being imposed in your country. What makes it even harder for me to understand is why no one is willing to stop it.

    • I think that is what confuses me the most, Susanne. What is wrong with those folks in Congress? Don’t they realize that their jobs would be extinct if he totally gets the power he wants? Hopefully in November we can show the world that all is not really lost here. Hungary gives me hope.
