So glad we get to combine posts on some days! Makes keeping up so much easier. For today’s #JusJoJan and #OLW I submit:
“What is waiting for me in the direction I don’t take?” Jack Kerouac
Interesting question, I think, although it could lead to a whole lot of “What ifs” and that might not be productive. I think one of Jack Kerouac’s books is on my scratch off chart. Have you read him?
I wonder if I can consider myself a published author since every time I write a blog post, I hit the “publish” tab?
Also, we are still waiting to be contacted by Publisher’s Clearing House to let us know we are the most recent grand prize winners. The next drawing is sometime in February and I’m given to understand we are “among the finalists” LOL. I’m not holding my breath.
After yesterday’s posting about Chris Daughtry and his songs, I went back to YouTube today and found this gem.
I am a big Phil Collins fan as well so I listened to see if Chris could compare. He does a fantastic job, in my opinion. I was waiting a bit for the burst of light that Phil Collins has when he performs it but other than that, just looking at Daughtry’s face as he is singing shows the passion he puts in his music. Gives me chills.
I also saw that I had NOT subscribed to his official channel so I did that, and subscribed to Phil Collins’ channel as well.
I happen to have some of both Daughtry’s and Phil Collins’ songs on MY YouTube channel from concerts we’ve been to and plan on adding some more so would love it if you would subscribe to my channel too!
Interestingly, when I typed my name in to get the link, I found that there were some other Janet Miles’ out there! Who’d have thought?
Going to try and combine two topics today, Gravity from Linda’s Just Jot January as submitted by Zhenzhen and Song Lyric Sunday’s prompt from Jim being Bottom/end/middle/side/top. I’m posting late because it has taken me a while to decide what song to use and I’ve been working in the studio on a new project.
For the song I chose Daughtry’s Deep End, from his album “Cage To Rattle” which came out in 2018. It has a lot of good songs on it. He is definitely one of my favorite performers. His lyrics really have meaning and he sings them with such feeling.
I’m underwater and I’m on fire There’s nothing wilder than my heart Just let the current set it in motion Then nothing can keep us apart
We’re all swimming into the light I want you by my side And I’m right here waiting for you Right here waiting for you We’re all living on borrowed time I’ve been holding my breath all night Waiting for you
I’m diving into the deep end And I’m not scared, I’m not scared And I’ve been way over my head And I’m not scared, I’m not scared, no
I am an island, you are an ocean I wanna float here in your arms High as a mountain, deep in devotion There’s nothing wilder than your heart
We’re all swimming into the light I want you by my side And I’m right here waiting for you Right here waiting for you We’re all living on borrowed time I’ve been holding my breath all night Waiting for you
And now I’m diving into the deep end And I’m not scared, I’m not scared And I’ve been way over my head And I’m not scared, I’m not scared, no
I’d follow you straight to the bottom Not afraid, hell or high water I wanna dive into you I’d follow you straight to the bottom Not afraid, hell or high water I wanna dive into you
I’m underwater And I’m on fire
And now I’m diving into the deep end And I’m not scared, I’m not scared And I’ve been way over my head And I’m not scared, I’m not scared, no
I’d follow you straight to the bottom Not afraid, hell or high water I wanna dive into you I’d follow you straight to the bottom Not afraid, hell or high water I wanna dive into you
Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: āthe first 3 words of the first full sentence.ā Okay, follow me here. This is what I want you to do: 1. Grab the closest book to you when you sit down to write your post. 2. Open it to a random page. 3. Locate the first complete sentence on that page. 4. Use the first three words of that sentence to start your post, then take it from thereāwrite whatever comes to mind. Thatās it! Have fun!
Additionally, over time, it gets easier and easier to follow a routine. It is the beginning that is the hardest. They say it takes 21 days to start a new habit or to break a bad one but I’m not so sure about that. I have also read that after the 21 days you continue it for another 90. That is more like 111 days which makes more sense.
Got my 3 words from one of the Keto books I have on my desk. I’ve been using them to get inspiration for meal planning, something I’ve been trying to get in the habit of doing. I’ve done it for a week or so at a time but then something happens and I go back to just winging it. I notice though that when I am planning, I am losing faster. You’d think that would be motivation!
Exercise is another thing I’ve not been very consistent with, except for walking Benny twice a day. I really need to get some arm and core work in to strengthen those muscles and help lose some of the excess flab from there. I know that I’ve stretched my skin with all the weight I was carrying but you’d think I’d be able to fill some of it back with muscle instead of having flopping wings. I’ll start tomorrow, maybe.
I feel like I’ve posted a lot about our little Benny but when the prompt for #JusJoJan as submitted by Di to Linda is “Dogs,” I feel I have no choice but to share some more. I’ll try to use something I haven’t shared before.
Our son got him a little Lambchop doll which he loves so much.
I’m not sure what he’s doing here, praying?
Sometimes he’ll sit on my lap while we watch TV.
Naturally we think we have the smartest dog in the world. Our daughter has done an excellent job of training him to sit, dance, roll over and give you his paw. He gets very excited and runs to the door when my husband asks him if he wants to go for a ride. For some reason he likes riding in the truck but he is not so fond of riding in my car. That’s okay with me because truth be told, I don’t want the dog hair all over and I can’t drive with him on my lap which is what my husband does.
Rachel sent us this video while we were in Boulder Creek last September. Do you think he knows what she’s saying?
He has been known to steal a shoe or two.
And if I could just get him to pick up his toys it would be perfect.
How can you be mad at such a cutie? I am not sorry we didn’t get a dog sooner because I know I wasn’t ready for one, but now I’m okay with it.
On the other hand, there are other things besides food that I consider scrumptious. I’ve mentioned before I am a paper addict and I would use scrumptious to describe these paper collections:
From my favorite, Little Women
I love the tropical colors here.
The Master Detective series
Sometimes I love the look of the paper so much I don’t want to use it! I’m slowly getting out of that habit.
Well, wait, this is scrumptious too!
I would love to sink my teeth into a nice warm slice of that with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream on top!
How about you? Ever consider something besides food scrumptious? Share!
Today is a combo with One-Liner Wednesday. This is one of my favorite pictures of myself and I think it fits perfectly with my word of the year, Drive.
“No one can drive us crazy unless we give them the keys.” Douglas Horton
I’m not giving up my keys (or in this case, my feet!)
The #JusJoJan prompt of the day is Mix. Remember mixed tapes? When we had cars with CD players in them (most don’t anymore) I used to make mixed CDs from my iTunes playlist. I even used to make my own covers.
With my last two cars I haven’t needed mixed tapes anymore since my phone plugs into the system but I still get a mix of songs because I keep my iTunes on shuffle mode.
There is a possibility that I may miss a post here or there this month. Of course I’m going to do my best to make them all but you know how things go.
I have just finished Haunted House Ghost, the signed book I won from James J. Cudney and now I am going through the reading challenges to find my next book. There are so many possibilities, especially because I want to be able to scratch off one of the books on my new poster too.
And I have all the books that I got at the library sales.
Not to mention the books that I already had that I want to get rid of but feel I have to read first…so many possibilities my mind is swimming. I’ll let you know what I finally come up with!
